Cat Saved After Being Superglued To Highway

Motorists passing by the stricken cat, named Timothy, did not bother to stop, thinking it had been injured.

But one couple driving along the busy road in Minnesota decided to investigate and pulled over.

It was only then they realised its paws had been cruelly glued to the tarmac.

Rosey Quinn, from Second Chance Rescue, told KSFY.com: "It's a mouth dropper because you are just like are you kidding me? But they did it."

She added rhe rescue service had never seen anything like it before.

Timothy is now recovering from injuries he suffered when he was removed from the road.

Although rescuers took every precaution, his paw pads and claws were torn off.

Timothy is now being looked after by a foster family and may eventually be put up for adoption.

And I would like to use a LOT of superglue on whoever did this. People are evil!

75. He's been gone since July, and just turned 4.
He was a rescue kitty, and is capable of caring for himself outdoors (and thankfully still has his claws).
I moved in July, and while friends were helping me pack, he escaped out the door. I moved 3 hours away, and have been back looking for him every week through Thanksgiving. The weather has prevented me from returning.
I've done the usual, photo in the paper, flyers in the markets, etc., and have had a few calls, but there are a lot of orange cats on the loose.
Here's his adoption photo (his little brother Keith is the grey cat in the back). If you are so inclined, please say a prayer for his safety from the cruelty of this world.

77. Have you called and visited the local animal shelters?
I've always heard it is much better to visit and look at the cats they have found in person, phone contact is not good enough, descriptions vary etc. That was certainly my experience with the local shelter here, when I found a cat, the shelter via the phone had no clue about anyone looking for it but when I came in and went through their books, there the owners' note was.

79. He has a clipped right ear.
Part of the TNR (trap-neuter-release) program includes ear-tipping, so they don't try to recapture him in the wild. They would presume he was a feral cat, and leave him alone. Of course, that would be in the Green Bay area (I lived 30 miles from Green Bay). That tipped ear has turned out to be a blessing, in trying to identify him.

When CC was found, they did the TN, but as he was recovering, they discovered how personable he was and put him up for adoption instead. He met and adopted his little brother Keith in the foster home, and I adopted them both. (Keith's name was 9 Lives - I decided to name him after Mr. Olbermann instead - and he likes it. :) )

The first question I ask those who call is "how many ears does he have?" :)

You can sort of see his right ear here:

84. What a sweet little face!
Edited on Wed Dec-23-09 12:52 PM by silverweb
Since you moved, hopefully he just moved in with someone else.

I had a rescue cat once, formerly semi-feral, that moved in with a neighbor. She had been content enough with me until she met him, and apparently just liked him better. When he moved, she went with him. I wasn't about to argue the point, since she was a very independent-minded feline -- as they all are.

I will definitely offer a prayer that C.C. is safe and happy somewhere -- and that someone lets you know.

9. Timothy looks sorta like a cat that my wife and I rescued last year
I cannot fathom the cruelty of people who do such unspeakable things to animals who just need to be loved and cared for.

And our Banjo was rescued just before a cold snap blew through our city that would have killed her for sure.

At first, we only meant to keep her until we could find a forever home for her. But Banjo adopted us and made us her family, and we are so thankful that she loves us.

Try as I may, I cannot put myself into the mind of someone who would do this to a helpless animal. What the hell can you possibly get out of watching something suffer like that. Guess that's why I'm not diagnosed as a sociopath...

Good thing no one hit the poor thing before someone came to it's rescue, but I imagine that was quite hellish for Timothy before they did.

a person will go on to abuse bigger things ...

I mean, one of the stories about Jeffrey Dahmer was that he loved torturing and cutting up small animals in his back yard ...

and don't forget, George W. Bush loved sticking firecrackers in frogs ...

95. It's a very good indicator. My dad was a psychologist for a State prison
he said that most violent people-especially serial killers and rapists- all have a history of animal abuse. That's the reason why so many law enforcement agencies now take animal abuse cases very, very seriously.

do such things or the kinds of children raised to believe such actions are funny.

Best wishes for Timothy.

61. Why is this happening?
Every week, we hear tales of unimaginable cruelty. Is it that we're just hearing more about everyday atrocities?

Or is it really happening more often?

otherwise I couldn't have stood to click on this thread at all. May Bast bless the couple who saved him with all Her blessings, and curse the scum who did it with all Her ferocity.

I'd like to superglue that POS to the chassis of a Greyhound bus and drive him cross-country. In the winter. By a northern route.

edit: My dear departed Marlowe was also a beige tabby.

Edited on Wed Dec-23-09 07:24 AM by Crabby Appleton

below added on edit

The couple brought the cat, now named Timothy, to Second Chance Animal Rescue in Sioux Falls where they started to treat him. The staff at Second Chance has been taking care of Timothy, and carefully removing the glue from his paws, legs, and tail. This morning they removed the last of the glue from his nose.

Timothy is doing well, and the staff at Second Chance plan to find a good home for him when he is done healing.

69. Every orange kitty I've known has been super sweet.
Poor Timothy looks traumatized; hope he is nurtured back to health and spends his days in lazy-cat-leisure. Bastard that did this is a freak who needs some serious help, which I hope he/she gets before another animal or a person is injured.

73. omg, I'm in tears
I absolutely despise this fucking mass of useless carbon called "humanity." I used to make a joke--I love humanity, it's the people I despise--but the sooner climate change and catastrophic war, starvation, and turmoil wipe them off the face of the planet, the happier I'd be (were I around to see the last of the sick twisted perversions of nature die off). Really, what does the world need "people" for?

I feel like that about all small innocent creatures abused by the human animal.

83. Yeah, I'd like to think I'm above that, but I'm not even close. I'd even pay to watch it--
which really shocks me to admit.

Of course, I would need to know that in the end, no real physical harm would come to those sick, disgusting, creatures (the "humans" who did this).

80. microchipping
This is perhaps a good place to put in a plug for microchipping your pets. Many shelters and vets offices now have the scanners that detect these, and you can update your address when you move in the database.

It is a very simple office procedure, just like getting an injection, and the microchip is really tiny, smaller than a piece of rice.

Is it just the U.S., or does this happen (child abuse, elder abuse, animal abuse) this often in first-world countries?
