9. I want free
Health care is a right, right?

I know a bunch of people who have gotten free health care.

If you were offered free HC would you turn it down?

13. I want a publicly funded, not for profit system
into which I would be happy to pay my fair share, so that we can all go to the damn doctor without breaking the bank or having to choose between food and medicine. But I guess I'd have to move to some kind of communist country for that.

25. Of course no one would turn it down.
But who is seriously asking for free health care?

You're avoiding the question. Making my initial assertion true. On this point, you're full of shit.

26. Of course
So what is your problem then? Bernie has put money up for lots of free clinics and by gawd, that's a good thing. I've even had free health care provided, and that's a good thing.

So, what is your problem again? White flag for what?

27. The progressives are all worn out and out of options
They are reluctantly waving the white flag and will all vote for this bill.

The intent of the OP was to empathize and sympathize with the liberals. Like Bernie.

You cite the existence of some free health care. And that's all fine.

But who is ASKING for it? That was my question to you.

33. Shit
All I did was ask a friggin question.
Didn't tell anyone I'd kill them or stick anything up their ass or any other way attack or malign an individual. But you did, eh?

And it took the mods 40 minutes to get rid of the death attack and then poof yours and mine all gone 10 minutes later.

No. Not proud or happy.

8. I don't mind paying
Edited on Tue Dec-22-09 07:24 PM by Horse with no Name
In fact--I don't mind paying the identical rates I am paying right now.
What I DO mind, is that the excessive premiums are lining the pockets of CEO's instead of taking care of other American's who do NOT have healthcare.
I haven't talked to ANYONE who expects ANY of this to be free...except for those that are using scare tactics about the eevils of "socialized medicine".:shoe-fits-wear-it-icon:

And you're wrong?

Can you at least admit it's within the realm of possibility that this bill may be better than you assume?

Your response proved what, exactly? That you disagree with me? You know full well where I stand. Why the need to even reply? Do I fascinate you that much?

As if no one knew that before.

If you did, I'd probably answer. But you didn't. You saw this as an attack on Obama and/or unreasonably asking for a pony. I have my rep. I deal with it. You have yours.

16. bzzzzt. wrong. bernie got $10 billion for CHCs for all the states
and CHCs provide greatly needed care. Vt will, at the most get 2 new CHCs. Hundreds of others will be created. CHCs provide primary care, mental health care and dental. If you have insurance, great. If you don't, pay is on a sliding scale. No one is turned away.

Anyone who calls this pork, is simply ignorant.

34. I'm not talking about the CHCs which are wonderful. I'm referring to
Medicaid funds being given to Vermont.

My Senators, Schumer and Gillebrand, being on board for HCR had no leverage and NY will get royally screwed if the bill passes.

Paterson was also bitter that states like Massachusetts and Vermont, which were also generous, got last-minute deals that erase their extra costs.

I read that the figure for Vermont and Massachusetts is $1.2 Billion

Edited on Tue Dec-22-09 08:19 PM by lunatica
His 'backroom deal', once he realized it was the best that was going to be passed got the American people 10 Billion dollars for community health centers nationwide. For all 50 States. Not just Vermont. That's no white flag. It may be even a brilliant move. And he will continue to fight for it to be better for a long time.
