When we reminisce about the road signs along the way- please don't forget the House Parties
Now that Obama is denying that he even campaigned on the public option - I would like to share my first "uh-oh" moment. It came with the House Parties for Healthcare that took place in June. He/they had certainly jettisoned the Public Option at that point and that was during the pre-game warm-up.

Here is a link to the materials they provided for people hosting the House Parties.

Please note President Obama's 3 Bromides . . . excuse me, Principles for reform

It is up to you to help organize around President Obama’s three principles that
any comprehensive health care reform must achieve: (1) reduce costs, (2)
guarantee choice, and (3) ensure all Americans have quality, affordable
health care. We cannot wait for health care reform. America needs it done
by the end of this year.

Please read all that stuff they wanted us to be talking about and see if anywhere in there is referenced ANY mention of a "public option". Notice how there isn't any. Notice how we were all suppose to waste each other's time by meeting and agreeing that we needed reform and to sign up for a National Day of Service.

The entire package looks like it was designed and written by a high school Young Rotarians group.

This was a "waste their time and make them think we are doing something" project while in the meantime they were laying the groundwork for the REAL "reform" with the insurers and Pharma.

2. This was the canary in the mineshaft to any that heard the faint warbling
Where were the strongly written policy pieces with talking points?

Where was any real outline for any real reform? Charts? Graphs? Projections? Proposals?

The only thing this bullshit package didn't have was "draw a picture of how you see healthcare in the future and send it to the White House" (so they could laugh their asses off)

Cynicism is the dregs of hope.
