Now that the president had burned a fair portion of his political capital implementing his liberal health care reform, the rest of it won't come so easy. The rest of his first term he will probably be a lot more moderate or right in comparison to what he has done so far. The party is over.

1. There's little to nothing LIBERAL about President Obama's Health Care Reform.
Edited on Tue Dec-22-09 11:08 PM by ShortnFiery
In fact, it's mostly A BIG WET KISS of mega-CASH to the Insurance Cartel and Big Pharma.

Liberal? ... my ass! :grr:

p.s. So we'll be a 100% Corporate Nation as compared to a 95% Corporate Nation? :eyes:

15. There's nothing about health care in it either
it's just an Insurance Company Profit Protection Act.

I had to read it a few times but.......did you really say liberal health care reform and mean it? Handing a cash cow to the insurance industry is a liberal tactic now? Whodathunk it.

who do they think is going to donate/work/vote for him in 2012?

i have serious doubts about about whether he'll even try for a second term.
and if we end up bogged down in afghanistan, with not much to show for the money/effort/LIVES- he won't stand a chance anyway.

btw- what is it that you find so liberal about forcing people to buy health insurance from a private corporation?

bank bailouts, more war, the Geither/Bernank/Summers economy and the corporate takeover of government.

That's, what, like a whole 10% of the population?

Not sure if they'll be able to find time between yachting in the Hamptons and golfing at Pebble Beach, though.

22. Half jest.
The part about about him abandoning the left now, I was not joking about.

This bill has been sold to the republican voters as a liberal/socialist gift, and they can't be convinced otherwise. I actually think that was the plan the whole time. Now Obama will say that he came through with the liberal healthcare bill and so he can't do anything more for liberals. And after 2010 that will probably be true.

14. Well if he does do as you say then it's going to be Obama that will be hurting.
Edited on Wed Dec-23-09 02:03 AM by PFunk
Unless he does something major to applease his now PO's liberal and indie base 2010 will go very badly for the dems to to loses in the senate (which will probally be back under the repugs), and house (which the repugs will make some gains) due to many still PO'd libs, and indies either not voting or going 3rd party. Plus the dems that do remain will probably be more progressive and less likey to play with and even may back an alternative to Obama in '12 to avoid losing the prsidency when he gets tossed out in 2012 probally for the same reasons.

Say what you want to about Bush (and I can say a lot about the a-hole) but at least he knew how to lead and to pay attention to his base. Now we'll see the result of someone that does neither.

(I'm already stocking up on antacids for the coming bad news in '10 and '12)

16. I disagree. The president is losing his base, and since the right
is so aggressive, he is going to find that he needs us to defend him.

18. Where the hell do you see anything liberal
in this bullshit?

Obama failed, and he failed because he couldn't or wouldn't stand up for his base. He caved in to the republicans. he caved in to the corporations. He caved in to the blue dogs. He kept moving the goal post until the goal was just to show up the negotiating table.

Now we have bill, 95% of the purpose of which is to help the corporations and guarantee their profits. We got 5% of what we wanted.

If this is Obama's big victory, and he is going to take it easy and glide to the right for the next 3 years then he might as well retire now and let Biden take over. x(
