I think the solution might be a Government Accountability Forum |
|
Edited on Wed Dec-23-09 05:11 PM by AllentownJake
I think a place where articles and opinions for accountability for Democratic Administrations and Public officials might be good for DU. Without dropping to the name calling. Few on DU would say that they would rather have John McCain, that being said there are various degrees of support for administration policies. I think a forum just for looking at policies critically and honestly might be good for DU because it would eliminate some of the derision.
Rules would be simple, policies are open for criticism as are statements and actions of public officials however no personal name calling is allowed. Since you are posting in the accountability forum the topic is meant to be critical so those that wish to only accentuate the positive about the administration policies would not be permitted to post. Oh and no attacking the OP or Author, since the articles will be critical by nature the articles and opinions are meant to be dissected to decide whether the critique is accurate.
It may lower the temperature. It may not. Just offering a suggestion.

keep the sheep seperated from the goats. i'm not sure it would help cool things down. some of the hottest arguments i've seen have been on threads where policy was being ctitically looked at and debated, and then it turned into mush because imo some the presidents more rigorous supporters just can't seem to accept that people disagree with him on some issues. it's likely they would still show up with the "you support palin" arguments.

but the last couple of days have been rough. i've tried to hear as many arguments both for and against regarding hcr, and then later obamas reaction to its opponents. the boosters show up and post 50 replies that mostly all equate to "obama good" the thread gets all but highjacked and any debate you actually had going get's abandoned.
i like your idea. how do we proceed
