Maybe we should march on Washington in January.
The Senate comes back on the 18th. A protest march demanding that the Public Option be restored in conference might do some good. Imagine a million people on the mall shouting that they want a public option. Anyone else might think that is a good idea?

1. Like all those antiwar marches that got media blackout. Unless there's rioting,
it won't get covered.

2. I was going to say the same thing
I was part of many massive antiwar demonstrations in frigid temperatures in DC and NYC.

We didn't have much of an impact on the opinions of those in Congress, if memory serves.

BTW, let me know when you get this big march organized. I'll be there. We'll see what impact it has.

10. The Senate hates us. A massive march would need to be seen by millions of Americans.

Millions of Americans would bug the Senate and scare them.

6. Good Idea
Edited on Wed Dec-23-09 06:44 PM by 90-percent
As long as we can round up about ten million hearty souls to show up.

A mere protest won't do it. It has to be the Woodstock of protests. Freeze DC in to gridlock kinds of crowds must be necessary.

I'm getting kind of cynical. I'm starting to think the only thing that will get the attention of our representatives is the violent overthrow of the US Government! That could prove to be fatal to a few hundred thousand of us. Especially since most of us are non-violent anti war type, the violence part of my proposal may not be practical.

9. How about the Saturday after they return. I'm fortunate. I have a job.
Seriously, turn-out would be better on a Saturday. Anyone east of the Mississippi could DRIVE in and still punch the clock on Monday.

I would.

15. Is it going to change Joe Lieberman's mind?
The problem of counting to 60 remains.

17. Haven't we spent the last few weeks learning that lesson?
The public option is out of the bill because Lieberman threatened to kill HCR if it remained.

19. You "million" will be akin to the teabaggers' "million"
if you even get as many as the teabaggers got when they claimed a million.
