"The Democrats disgust me more than the Republicans"
"The democrats disgust me more than the republicans. The republicans actually believe their BS, but the democrats will make excuses for it" - Gerlad Celente on a radio interview I was just listening to.

Pretty good point actually. Everything going on at the national level to screw over regular people has an excuse coming down from party leadership, and half the base seems to go along with it. In a way it truly is more disgusting.

just expected more out of Obama. You know, being one of "us" and all, and with majorities in both houses. Some of us expected better out of the Congress too.

9. Yes.
I know what Bush is going to do, he never promised me he'd be a Democratic President.

So if you force that simple logic, then yes.

See, I know Bush is a dick, I expected more from President Obama.

14. Most democratic forums on the net are voicing the same concerns
You remind me of a person in an abusive relationship. You keep getting beaten, but refuse to acknowledge you are being abused. The government is supposed to work for US - not big business. I will not stand around with a smile on my face while I am being screwed over so a CEO can collect more cash in one day than 99% of the population will make their entire lives.

18. I was actually here before you were.
In fact, many of the people who post here, in this thread, were here before you.

Perhaps this shark you talk about being jumped, has been jumped by you? I'm not a fanatic, I support what is good for the people, not the politician.

By the way, I hated Clinton's policies and protested them like crazy. Same with Reagan, and Bush 1 and 2.

I'm about truth. You seem to be stuck on personality.

Please never try to tell me what DU has become like you speak for this board, you're just as much of a nobody here as I am.

30. And now comes the name calling.
That's pretty much what it comes down to isn't it? You walk into a place and claim it is your place. How belligerent of you. Then when I take the time to point out that there were people in this place before you got here you claim that you do not give a shit, and that goes for everyone. Then you call us all morons.

Well, isn't that nice. See, the thing about this type of behaviour is put up with in two places on earth, Internet boards, and your parents living room.

Maybe they thought it was cute, "Oh look darling, our boy is being tough and macho, he just said he speaks for our house. Isn't that the sweetest thing?" It's not cute.

In your parents living room it doesn't get you hurt, nor does it on an Internet board. So, is that what leads you to be so aggressive, even when unwarranted? You know there are no consequences? Are you a small person who is often afraid, and you know that if you behaved in such a way in the real world, it would not turn out well?

That's what I think.

Try being nice. Try listening and discussing and defending your position instead of name calling and people will see you as a big person, a tough person and a person with a big heart. A person that can not be intimidated. Then it doesn't matter if we disagree, I will still have respect for you as will everyone else.

That is what makes you strong. Not the behaviour you have exhibited in this thread.

Have a nice day.

The problem I have is with people who make outrageous claims like Dems being worse than repukes. You're the one who brought up membership and how long I have been here. This place is called Democratic Underground for a reason.

With all due respect, people who think Dems are worse than repukes are MORONS.

Not everyone on this thread is a moron, but you certainly are one.

Peace out. :hi:

Edited on Wed Dec-23-09 07:40 PM by hfojvt
Nov 2007  I guess anyone who joined before February 2008 is allowed to support Republicans. We're too progressive for the Democrats, so we will be better served by Republicans, who, of course, are not nearly as disgusting. If only Coleman, McCain and the others had won, we'd totally be better off. Wall street would not have been bailed out. DOMA and DADT would both be over-turned. And we'd already have single payer healthcare!

i couldn't be any prouder of many of the posters here.
had the rw spoken up when bushs policies started to seriously screw everybody
that wasn't already a fuckin ceo and stood on principle instead spewing a bunch of stupid talking points maybe we could have stopped the bleeding before we all but bled out.

supporting a policy that's going to screw you just because it's "our guy" in the whitehouse is just nuts. it was nuts when working people supported bush and his taxcuts and it's nuts when we support policies that aren't in our best interests.

23. You Ask Me - It Jumped The Shark When They Went With The Unrecommend Feature.......
now many good, logical and well thought out threads don't get the exposure to the DU participants. We've been taken over by complainers. Too much negativity. Almost like we've been sold out to the other side. I guess the payoff was worth the consequences. It's getting harder and harder for me to visit DU and participate. But I feel if I stop - they've won.

33. if you'd been here longer, you'd know DU has a looong history of bashing Democrats
http://journals.democraticunderground.com/hfojvt/51

and even before that, the Democratic Party was often bashed because "so many Democrats supported the Bush Administration." I have had to look up and repeatedly post that ZERO senate Democrats voted for the Bush tax cuts in 2003, and a MAJORITY of House Democrats voted AGAINST the Iraq War Resolution. If you read DU, you might think that all Democrats, or a huge majority, had voted for both.

Not that I, of course, would EVER bash a Democrat

36. the trouble with going negative
is that you can always find something to complain about - the glass is never gonna be completely full - ever. But when you constantly look for warts on Democrats and turn those moles into mountains, then it seems easy to forget that Republicans are not exactly on the side of truth, beauty and justice. All that is ever talked about is seemingly "Democrats did this wrong", "Democrats (or A Democrat) lied about this, that and the other thing." and then the best place to go on the internet to read about "The Top 10 Democratic Idiots" is gonna be DU.

I'm never surprised when my enemies sucker punch me, it's expected. It's when a friend stabs you in the back that it really hurts.

I don't understand why people are so mad at the pugs, they are only doing what we know they are going to do. Right now it's the turncoat Dems that deserve the real ridicule.

4. and we used to think it was only the repugs who had a dumbshit chorus
but from the postings of some of the shrill chorus here, that notion has been blown apart.

It's especially mindblowing to see how many of these *party members* are so willing and able to pull the same sort of nastiness to shut down discussion or dissent.

You can literally tell the chorus by the refrains they post, and the same links they keep posting over and over and over again.

16. The charade is being exposed
Edited on Wed Dec-23-09 07:01 PM by DontTreadOnMe
I think the internet is the main factor for this new awareness among the general population in America, and the world.
News stories are being covered instantly on the web. So much faster than any other media outlet, especially TV.
People know the stories, then can check to see if the "media" covers it. This exposes how the game is being played out to the public.

Our government is currently run by lobbyists. Everyone is for sale on both sides. It's been that way for awhile, but now
it is getting shoved in the working class' faces, and they are FINALLY realizing they are being played.

Carl Bernstein brought up the subject on Morning Joe today. He spelled out how the Senate has become completely dysfunctional.

I have come to the conclusion that Obama is smart enough to know the extent of the problem, and he is trying to work with this
dysfunctional system to try to get ANYTHING done, even if it is not the best legislation. Partial new legislation is now being sold as better than
no legislation. Everything is a watered-down compromise. Everyone is bribed for their vote. Patrick Leahy was recently interviewed and basically
stated that this is how the game is played, so you better get the best negotiators on your side or you lose.

The biggest problem is the Republican want the system to fall apart. They want the public to turn against government. It IS in their long term interest
to make the system not work. Obama needs to sharpen his marketing campaign. He needs to drive this point hard. If he fails, a mid term disaster is
very possible. Any gains made by Obama will be deconstructed, and actually then be marketed by the right as a failure.

Meanwhile, the middle class is getting screwed. It started with Reagan and has finally reached a boiling point after 30 years.
The middle class is finally waking up and seeing the real picture. The question remains as to what the middle class is going to do to
to force change.

You are correct, the middle class is and has been getting screwed, though, things aren't going to change overnight nor in one presidency or congress.

What disgusts me is when someone says something as foolish as what you have your subject line.
