I wonder how many repub senators regretted their "no" votes before they even placed them. |

No one on the right had the courage to vote yes.

3. I'll bet a few, but not many |

The days of Republicans like Linc Chaffee and Jim Jeffords are long gone, and the two women from Maine have shown a willingness to submit to Party discipline to the detriment of their constituents. All a Party chairman has to do is threaten heavy financial support for a strong primary challenge, and anyone with re-election aspirations might think twice. It sucks that such considerations take precedence over the national interest, but that's the way it is.

Regret = weakness...one of the biggest "assets" of being a rushpublican is to never admit to making mistakes or being held accountable. There's no remorse on any of these goons cause they did all they could to stop the legislation from going forward and continue to lie and distort what's in the bill.
Not even Snowe or Collins. In the end, it was their corporate puppemasters who had the last say...they just vote as they're told. Makes life easier for them that way.
My bets there are a lot of sighs of relief right now...but we'll be back here for more votes in January.

6. There may be some remorse if they lose their votes as a result. |

That's something Democratic candidates need to hit on hard.

7. Only If They Lose The Election |
|
The GOOP strategy is to obstruct and prevent this administration from passing anything, then run around claiming nothing is getting done (you're already seeing some here on DU that have picked up on that meme). They think they have a winner with all the people who are pissed off by the bill and the process, thus they will pretend to be objecting for all reasons other than their main motive...to paralyze this administration and the federal government. The only regret any will have is if they lose elections.

And you're right that they have no interest in governing at all. They simply want to obstruct any progress.
It seems to me they would be smarter to get involved. Then they could damage things from the inside instead of simply pooh-poohing it from a distance.
Lucky for us that they aren't that smart.

12. Not Voinovich. He sold his morals out years ago. |
|
He does as told for the bag of money he'll get after he retires.
Useless sack of crap that did nothing for people of the state of Ohio, and everything for those that own his soul, like the good bootlick that he is.
Hope he gets all he ever wished for, and then some.

I couldn't see what he was doing but there was a very long delay before he cast his vote. I wonder if he was thinking of Teddy.
