"Mr. President, this is for my friend, Ted Kennedy. Aye."
A tired Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) set the tone for the event. When the clerk called out his name, Byrd broke with protocol. Instead of calling out his vote, Byrd shouted "Mr. President, this is for my friend, Ted Kennedy. Aye."

7. So you knew Ted Kennedy better than his wife?
Wow. Just fucking WOW. I never thought DU would sink as low as it has lately. Congratulations.

10. No. But did the OP? Doubtful
so it is speculation. I can't see how any ethical person would support mandated consumerism.

14. I'm ethical, and I support many provisions in this bill.
See, I don't subscribe to the all-or-nothing mentality because I'm a bit older than THREE.

Guess you need to spend a little more time follow the news and less time bashing good things and good programs.

24. lol! Keep pushing that nonsensical propaganda
you may have some success, if P.T. Barnum's observations on human nature are correct.

26. I am pushing nothing, simply stating my opnion
you may snark all you like, but that doesn't make you any more correct.

17. You seem to know a lot of people - not just Kennedy.
You can pinpoint a person on DU just from a post. Amazing! Off to the dungeon with you. I'm done wasting my time sifting through the toxic wasted on DU. There are enough good, reasonable people here to not justify leaving. Crap away...in the dungeon.

19. Kennedy knew how the Senate worked.
Granted HCR is not the way we wanted but Kennedy would had grabbed this.

If he were to roll over in his grave then he would had retired from the Senate years ago.

23. I agree with you.
It would be a travesty to put his name anywhere near this POS bill.

16. I just read Sen. Kennedy's Book ~ it is a must read IMO
The last few chapters express his feeling about the importance of this effort.

It's in his own words and it is clear that he would be extremely happy on this DAY.
