Amazing.

I am thankful for this.

If one fears flying, one might consider this and take solace.

It is all good.

8. Lovers park their cars right along that strip
and more than a few get too close to the sea. That's to prevent them from driving on the beach and getting too close to the water.

9. I ran into some friends yesterday
and they were chatting with a lady whose son was on board. He was hit in the head by stuff from the overhead compartments but barely has a scratch. She said she nearly went crazy trying to find him but found him at the airport emergency centre within 45 minutes.
The really lucky part was that a large bus was heading from Port Royal to Kingston; the crew watched it happen and picked up about 70 passengers within minutes and took them to the airport. They made two trips before the ambulances from the airport and Harbour View (community at the end of the Airport Road) reached.
It's about six minutes from that spot to the airport unless the emergency crews have some way of coming off the runway directly.

6. I was in a minor crash when I was seven
The landing gear locked and the plane had to do a belly landing, rough but survivable. The hard part was watching all the fire trucks and ambulances assemble while we circled the landing strip.

I don't fear flying, not really. I tell myself there's only one crash to a customer.

I hope all those folks who survived this one manage to tell themselves that when they board the plane home in a week or so.

Some dream Christmas vacation!
