7. If you are against this bill you stand with Jim DeMint |
|
and standing with Jim DeMint is your right, if you want to stand with Jim DeMint. Jim DeMint is for killing the bill and if you are for killing the bill then you are for what Jim DeMint is for. I certainly won't stand in your way if you want to help Jim DeMint kill the bill.

1) Single payer, everyone in, no one out. 2) Official policy toward good health and away from market-based "freedom" that's really sickness and poison. 3) An honest national discussion of death as the most natural part of life.

For those of you that have not had it happen to a close family member My family lost one this week. After a certain point the insurance companies and drs. make the decision on continuing treatment of a patient. FOR ANYONE IN THIS DAY AND AGE NOT TO KNOW THAT SEEMS BEYOND REALITY. YOU CAN'T EVEN GET AN OPERATION UNLESS THE DR.MEETS THE STANDARDS SET BY THE INSURANCE COMPANIES! IF YOU GOT GALL STONES-YA SHOW THEM- I SUFFERED 3 EXTRA YEARS BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T PROVE IT WITH X-RAYS- I WAS IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM 3 DAYS RUNNING WHEN THE DR SAID WE ARE OPERATING -THE RESULT -ONE MORE DAY AND I COULD HAVE DIED! HIS WORDS IT SHOULD HAVE COME OUT 10 YEARS AGO! MY COMPLAINT ABOUT THE RIGHT-THEY COULD CARELESS ABOUT THE WORKING MAN! THEY ONLY WANT TO KILL THE BILL OR MAKE IT AS WEAK AS POSSIBLE!

They are being given a monopoly sanctioned and enforced by the government. We are moving away from single payer and straight into privatization. This bill mandates INSURANCE which, as you have learned, IS NOT HEALTHCARE.

It's shit. How do we reform healthcare? Let's mandate insurance coverage purchase! Let's institutionalize the industry that's the root of many of our healthcare woes. You expect me to cheerlead this because it happened on Democrats' watch? pfft..

or with others of like mind. This bill is not adequate. This bill is not what we were promised. This bill will benefit the insurance industry more than any individual who needs health insurance. I still want a single payer plan with fees based on ability to pay, medicare for everyone, and with surcharges on those whose income is $500,000 or greater. It is not all one way or the other. There are more than two choices. I wouldn't stand with either Obama or DeMint on anything.

Moreover- at this point, the public's also going to associate their continuing abuses with Democrats (as well they should).
This bill alone could mobilize legions of people to go to the polls and vote for whichever party didn't do it, and I'm pretty sure the GOP won't be shy about reminding Americans who that is.

and maybe this bill will ultimately improve our health care delivery system, but I'm not feeling real confident. I certainly don't identify with Jim Demint, because his opposition to the bill is based on a completely different mindset, but I do oppose the bill as it stands. I would have much preferred a single-payer system. It just seems to me that it would be so much simpler and cost-effective for us all to pay our taxes, whatever our income allows, and for us all to have equal access to health care.
Maybe this very flawed piece of legislation is a good first step and maybe it isn't. If it fails, then we'll just have to try again later and maybe remember the lessons from this time. I guess I really am a socialist...
