Is this really necessary?
Robert L Howard, the most decorated Vietnam war veteran passed away today so I went to check his Wikipedia page and this is what I saw:

Robert L. Howard
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

He supported the criminal American war machine. He shouldn't be honored.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_L._Howard

So I am left with this question, is this really necessary? :eyes:

2. wiki vandals are always quick to pounce
Necessary? Certainly not.

Predictable? Unfortunately yes.

3. Not sure. Can America's action in Vietnam be classified as "criminal"
Edited on Thu Dec-24-09 04:29 PM by Oregone
Did he support such a war machine?

Im sure they could of been fair and left in exactly what support he provided. Just no details...such a shame

9. Does merely fighting in a war make you a supporter of it?
I'd say you're more a supporter of the security and safety of yourself and your comrades-in-arms than anything else.

The supporters of wars are the leaders who start them in the first place.

15. Uh, sorta. In the materially, direct, non-figurative sense of the word "support", yes
Edited on Thu Dec-24-09 04:40 PM by Oregone
Id like to see those old crows conduct a war like that with no soldiers to support their effort. They are sorta a necessary ingredient, you know.

Its kind of shitty to take a dump on his death day and all, as well as delete the other info, but, well, its tough to refute that sentence alone.

18. Well, under those terms, we're ALL part of the War machine, being taxpayers of this country...
...so why not smear everyone's bio with that shit? Why single out a guy who was so highly decorated because he administered first aid under fire to the wounded in his platoon even though he was wounded himself?

19. "Why single out a guy who.."
It was probably the best example of the recognition of a hero of an unjust war. Don't be coy. Its obvious why whoever did it singled this person out.

20. No, I don't think it's obvious at all.
The person who wrote what they did clearly didn't bother to do any research on the guy--on the wounds he suffered, on the fellow soldiers he saved. He saved lives under duress--in an awful, illegal war, yes, but he saved lives. I'm willing to bet that's far more than the idiot who vandalized his Wiki page ever did.

Their thought process was one of "Oh, highly decorated Vietnam vet? Babykiller! Let's piss on his grave!" How pathetic.

13. I hate to say it, but a very few liberals actually do...
...when they don't like the war the troops are fighting in. I've occasionally seen it at this very site, although the offending threads are usually shouted down and locked.

It could be a fake, but if it was posted in earnest, I honestly wouldn't be too shocked.

21. And there's people on this very site who vocally do as well
It's not always Republican spies or whatnot, any more than it's liberal plants saying some of the wackier things on the right.

There's nothing more pitiful than some anonymous loser who considers virtual poo slinging to be a productive activity.
