I've had a relatively minor surgery last week here, in Montreal, Canada. It was what's called a 1-day operation, and every day since, I go to a local clinic for cleaning and rebanding. The wait was only about two months (it wasn't an emergency). All medical professionals are kind to me. They take their works very seriously.
Meds and everything related cost me $0.00 (except for the Acetaminophen capsules I bought at the drug store to help ease the pain a bit).
I wish all U.S. citizens (my sister's family included) will be covered like that ASAP.

4. Thanks for the wish... |

I'm sad to say that I don't believe the United States is capable of it. Corporatism and greed has won out. We allowed it to get totally out of hand to the point of no return and now we have become slaves, pure and simple.

5. The problem(s) originate(s) from the lack of true public financing |

of all U.S. political campaigns, but how could it be solved if only the a-holes that screw everyone they want R the only ones who could vote for THAT mandatory 'change'?
Perhaps with 'endless' national strikes... but with all the 'Hi-Tech' distractions, it's doubtful.

Campaign finance reform + lobbying reform is the antidote. Unfortunately, the reformers are not going to be able to attain enough political power (i.e., money) to be effective.

7. You get to go back to have professionals clean and rebandage your wound? |
|
My nephew just spent 3 days in the hospital on IV antibiotics because of a badly infected finger (and a conscious patient spending 3 days in the hosptial here is nearly unheard of). He was sent home with a prescription and instructions on how to clean and bandage the finger and an appointment with a doctor to check the progress in 5 days.
But we have the best health care in the world. :sarcasm:

9. Yes. The system here has been 'reformed' over and over again. |
|
It's far (well, maybe not too far now) from being perfect, but I have to add the fact that the middle-class taxpayers here are the most 'taxed' taxpayers in North America (but a BIG MAJORITY DON'T CARE about that fact, BECAUSE of the Health-Care system that we have now).
It's not the best in the world (yet), France's system is, but we're getting there soon. :)

6. the socialists won WWII in w. Europe |
|
the communists won in e. Europe
the fascists won in the U.S. but it took a few decades to fulfill their take over via the republicans and the dlc.
...and we see which part of the world has had the best outcome via their policies that reflect their ideologies.
