Polar opposite opinions on HCR bill from 2 newspapers : Links
First, the PRO: http://www.philly.com/philly/business/homepage/20091225_Health_bill_s_passage_is_just_a_start.html

Now, the CON:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704254604574614662877143186.html

The article from the WSJ is actually offensive to me for its bias, stupidity and lies.
I posted this th get it out of my system.

The Journal used to be a decent paper, but no more.

1. a good example of spin on both sides, with both sides missing the point
and a good example of why we're screwed.

Both sides are at the helm, and neither side feels whatsoever disposed to tell the truth.

2. Very careful framing of subjects the elites need to control public opinion on is crucial
And unfortunately highly effective also.

3. Spin, not news. I don't know where to go for straight news coverage
anymore, without someone's editorializing or explaining to me what I just saw. I remember when you could get a news program, then an opinion program afterwards, carefylly labeled as such, but this evidently has disappeared. Lots of younger people have never been exposed to straight news coverage - I guess it's not exciting enough for TV or even newspapers. Just doesn't sell.
A shame.

4. While I would never expect the WSJ to say anything good
about what Democratic politicians were doing, they still show in the above referenced article the heart of what will be used against those politicians in the next eleven months. This legislation is such a clusterfuck that it's relatively easy for the GOP leadership to persuade all Rethugs to make sure they are on the "no" side of it.
