The terrorist attempt has been getting wall to wall coverage
on CNN this morning and after jumping over to Faux numerous times I have yet to see it even mentioned. They must be waiting for marching orders from Murdoch on how they will spin it.

1. That is because it was handled at this end
if something untoward had happened it would be non-stop on Fox. I don't understand why those foreign countries don't do better screening. I think if a plane is coming to this country, we should insist on proper screening.

2. I think you've put your finger on it.
Any failure in the screening process had to have happened in Lagos, Nigeria or in Amsterdam. Since the incident can't be blamed on the Obama administration, they don't have much to say about it.

4. I watched Faux for about 1/2 hour this morning and
O'Liely was doing a loony left trivia game with the morning airheads. Since then every time I check them out they are going wall to wall anti health care.

23. Watch List
This guy was on the terror watch list for 2 years. I know that 6 years ago, flying from Vancouver, BC to New Orleans for our honeymoon, we had to pass through U.S. customs before we were allowed to board the plane. I can't see how that would be any different in Amsterdam. Someone dropped the ball, especially if the suspect was traveling under his real name. I seem to recall Ted Kennedy's name was on the list and he wasn't allowed to fly until they realized it was another Ted Kennedy. Something about this stinks. I hate to sound like a conspiracy nut, but did someone let him through on purpose, hoping he would bring down the plane to embarrass the Obama administration?

You do not fly in an international flight too often do you?

If you do you'd know how stoopid this is.

This guy got through because he was on the watch list but not the NO FLY LIST.

By the way when and where exactly did the flights on 9.11 originate from? I did not know Boston and NYC were in foreign countries.

But I will give you a clue. BEFORE 9.11 I could go meet family at the gate in the US... it's been three decades or more that you could not do that in Mexico City... well before any terrorist attack. ANd as a medic penetrating the sterile area of a US Airport was far easier than in Tijuana.

Here is another free clue... more security lessens the possibility of an attack, it does not stop it.

3. I'm happy I'm not flying in the next couple of weeks.
I'll be taking my wife's sister and her husband to the airport tomorrow. I'm suggesting we leave a little earlier than usual.

16. It'll work out OK, I'm sure. Just smile and double check before
you head to the airport to make sure you don't have stuff in your carry-on or purse that you can't carry on the plane. Passport and boarding pass out and handy. Get there a little earlier than you normally would and head right for the security line. It may take a bit longer today.

You might get wanded or patted down. But then, you'll be on your way to your gate. It will just be a little more of a PITA right now. Not much. Just a little.

and I listen to everything the US govt tells me with a grain of salt until then
I still question even after that because I trust the MSM with the truth about as much as I trust Bernie Madoff with my money

21. There ins't enough info to call it a bomb but there is enough info for you to call it fireworks.
Kinda like having your cake and eating it too.

"Hey wait there isn't enough info yet. Don't jump to conclusions."
"Hey I am jumping to the conclusion it is just fireworks."

FAIL

22. Statistical, you are wrong
Those reporting it as fireworks are merely repeating what CNN reported initially;

http://www.theskichannel.com/news/skinews/20091225/Passenger-on-Detroitbound-plane-ignites-fireworks-

And on Yahoo News:

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20091225/twl-passenger-lets-off-fireworks-on-u-s-3fd0ae9.html

And on Current News;

http://current.com/items/91766791_christmas-fireworks-set-off-on-plane.htm

Why are you so quick to criticize those that merely report what they have seen/heard reported?

Care to elaborate?

Just my dos centavos

26. If you don't get the irony I can't help you.
The same person who said "not enough info" on the bomb reported by the media was very happy to call them firecrackers, as reported by the very same media.

When facts are not what the poster wants the claim was made "not enough info" and media is jumping to conclusions.
When facts are what the poster wants was more than happy to report firecracker (not very out of date) claim.

You can BOTH say "not enough info", "wait for the facts", and I don't trust the media and at the very same time trust the media about the firecracker, have enough info and see no reason to wait.

29. There's up-to-date news out there, get some on ya.
I agree with your sentiments on the MSM etc, even some of the "OMG BREAKING NEWS" here at the DU are simply attempts to be THE FIRST to parrot whatever blurb they saw/heard without verifying...and is nothing but noise and shouldn't be done but that would take all the fun out of posting for some.
Again, I agree and thanks for expressing your view.

12. But the terrorist's visa was granted in 2008.
And this was despite a warning to the Nigerian government about his extremist political views. That's probably the biggest reason Faux Noise isn't covering the story.

8. You're right. On the other hand, every time I turn to FOX News my jaw drops
It's remarkable that such TRASH (and I am not exaggerating) actually is trying to pass as a news program. How does this happen anywhere, that 24/7 station based strictly on OPINIONS passes as a news station? That wouldn't fly in too many places.

They're all slanted, they're all pumping opinions 24/7, and they're all trash.

They're both shit.

Your statement:

"How does this happen anywhere, that 24/7 station based strictly on OPINIONS passes as a news station?"

could just as easily have been made by someone on the right talking about MSNBC or CNN.

Comedy Central has become a better source of information than any of them.

BIG DIFFERENCE.

Sure, media in the U.S. sucks big time, but there's no comparison. FOX is not news.

Alleged Christmas Day Terrorist Charged With Blowing Up Plane

http://www.news10.net/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=72345&provider=top

A federal judge has told a Nigerian man that he is charged with trying to blow up a Northwest Airlines plane on Christmas Day.

At first, thought it was an article on a bombing I hadn't heard about in the news.
