Clapping Harder will not make Jane Hamsher right. No matter who says. |
|
Edited on Sat Dec-26-09 11:00 AM by NJmaverick
From a popular DK diary Let us be VERY clear what it means to White Water the administration. It means you create a climate of investigation and political slander and lies; it does not create a legislative climate. It destroys it.
That's how you end up working on school uniform bullshit, people.
I really respect Cenk Uygur a lot but he is dead wrong about Jane Hamsher and the jihad she's on against the Obama administration. This bullshit about Rahm Emanuel is not going to do jack squat but impede legislative work and destroy 2010.

1. Not worried, this has no traction outside a small corner of the progressive community. |

It never was news to 95% of America.
Next week there will be some new controversy to distract even the tenacious hangers-on.

It wouldn't be the first nor the last time. I've seen it happen. Shithead pretend-libs who attack Democrats, then one day wake up and announce they're switching to Repuke.

People who want to team up with Norquist evince a breed of stupidity rarely seen on Earth. Quasar stupid. Molten lava stupid.
Stupid is stupid, whether it be painted with a veneer of progressivism or not.
Teaming up with Norquist is fucking stupid. Period, end of file.

7. Nor does suppressing every opposition opinion to one's own makes one's opinion right. |
|
I haven't read the Hamsher thoughts on Emmanuel but there is much wrong with Rahm that is evident even from those who work with him,and unfortunately, he may have done a lot of damage those those in congress who have been betrayed by him.Congresspersons in conservative districts who took a chance fighting for HCR now find themselves in the dubious position of being challenged both for their vote initially by the right and against their vote by the left-as a result of the garbage the WH is sailing through to claim a win.The WH is directly at fault in this because of the WH strategy, as announced by Rahm of "strategic ambiguity".

8. I'd say the administration has gotten a loud and clear message |
|
that it is time to put main street's needs on par with Wall Street's.
Obama can deal with this moment. He needs to respond to the people who voted to put him in office by pressuring Senators and the House to amend health care so that Sanders' community health clinics are paid for by the "fine" for not paying insurance cos for "health care."
he needs to apply pressure to put in cost controls for medications and procedures. there is no reason Americans have to pay so much money for health care... more than any other nation in the world, while receiving less for that money.
build health care centers, staff them and let Americans choose to have public health care.
cut spending by abolishing the republican pig trough "faith-based" appts... these are an insult to the separation of church and state. put money toward science-based health care instead of medieval bullshit masquerading as thought.
Obama needs to act, rather than talk, about support for civil rights for women and the gblt communities.
In other words, like FDR, Obama needs to adjust his governing to reflect the problems we now face that are not solvable by a "third way" of corporate giveaways of tax dollars. this practice is simply not sustainable.
I cannot join with Norquist on any matter. he is scum of the earth, as far as I'm concerned, and an enemy of liberals all over the world. however, the truth is that the democrats have ignored their base and this is the result.
the ball is now in Obama's court. He better shoot, not pass.

Scrap The "meet them in the middle" which has failed for thirty years and counting and actually fight back. that he made himself a tool for the right when he put the Brokeback Saddleback asshole on the inaugural stage. when he aligned with the pharmas over the American people on health care reform.
when he made it "legal" to torture people by pretending they aren't people anymore.
when it upheld the piece of shit FISA abolition of the 4th amendment.
there are plenty of insults to go around.
the point is whether or not the democrats are willing to pull back from the abyss of corporate rule.
even those who do not align with Norquist have had enough of this shit via Wall Street and the insurance cos.

Whether or not you agree with Hamsher she has been fighting for left wing causes for years. Did you grow up expecting to agree with everyone on everything in life? Ripping on her says more about you than it does her. She's standing up for what she believes, and a lot of people are standing with her.
Your blanket statements of right and wrong are ridiculous, this isn't some black and white issue.

His IQ was in the double digits. He was a fucking moron. He never did one thing fucking right. Hamsher however has been a big supporter of good liberal causes and because you disagree with her on this one issue you are willing to throw her under the bus. While I don't agree with what she is doing I'm certainly not so caught up in my own self righteousness that I would attack her in multiple threads, start multiple threads attacking her and attack anyone who disagreed with me.
