Charlie Sheen falsley accused of domestic violence
In fairness to Charlie Sheen...

Alcohol a Factor ... But Not for Charlie Sheen
Posted Dec 26th 2009 2:30AM by TMZ Staff

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Brooke Mueller was legally drunk when she called 911 on Charlie Sheen ... and, we've learned, Brooke has fessed up that her allegation was phony.

Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller
Sources say authorities gave both Charlie and Brooke blood alcohol tests. Brooke registered a .13 while Charlie registered a .04. By the way, the 911 call came in at 8:34 AM on Christmas day.

We're also told Brooke recanted her story to a female officer just before the bail hearing, telling the cop she was drunk when she made the 911 call. Nevertheless, law enforcement sources say police will still pursue the case -- at least for now.

Cops responded to the 911 call, arrived at the home and Sheen was arrested after Brooke claimed he assaulted her. Charlie was booked for two felonies and one misdemeanor relating to domestic violence.

As we first reported, Sheen told law enforcement Brooke was the aggressor and he was just trying to defend himself.

1. Another storyline from a potential Lifetime Channel movie aborted
and women's groups never want to acknowledge that yes, sometimes this does happen.

4. Women's groups certainly DO acknowledge that this happens.
But false reporting happens very infrequently.

Meanwhile, according to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, women experience about 4.8 million intimate partner-related physical assaults and rapes every year.

Smoke that.

6. Actually, they almost never acknowledge it.
Including sometimes continuing to defend cases even after the truth comes out. Witness the Duke rape case, which STILL has people here insisting that they know the "facts" even though the "victim" confessed it was all a lie.

And false reporting is much more common than anyone wants to talk about. It's practically standard practice in divorce cases, but it's also an incredibly easy button to push for an amoral woman who's angry at her partner or ex.

How WILL we as a country pick up the pieces from the Duke Lacrosse case?

endure I would feel more sympathy and equity. I don't have a problem admitting it exists on both sides and if his wife was drunk and assaulted him, she should go to jail. no one has the right to do this, male or female. but because it is almost as common as breathing for too many women and old people, its harder to feel sorry. I think Charlie is a hoot but I would probably hit him with a frying pan if he was mine. :) He has to pick nicer women. It would appear he's very good to his kids. Kudos for that.

and yes, it probably doesn't sound fair but its sort of the end feelings from watching too much shit.

9. Unfortunately, bruises only show up later
and in most domestic violence cases, both parties are sloshed to the gills. The police acted prudently.

If I were Charlie, the marriage would be over. A night in jail is no joke.

I despise women who do this sort of thing. They make it rougher for the women who really are being beaten in their own homes.

10. That's why we train the police in police work.
Despite what some people here may think, not all cops are morons. Being able to read the differences between a true, consistent story and an untrue story is the difference between a case like this which gets dropped, and something like Hiram Monserrate, who ends up going to trial.

18. People here are extremely sensitive to perceived police abuses.
Unfortunately, we have a policing culture in this country where they seem to occur on a regular basis. Although, of course, not every case where someone screams "police brutality" deserves it.

20. Cop-bashing is only a common theme here when a cop or cops have
gone beyond (or are perceived to have gone beyond, perhaps wrongly) the limit of their power or have violated the rights of a citizen. But another common theme here is praise in the police when they exemplify the calling of their duty and service.

For instance, the other day a cop jumped out of his vehicle and brandished his gun in the midst of a snowball fight. He's an asshole. On the other hand, there are the countless stories of cops as heroes. It's not fair to see only one side of the coin and then make a general characterization of this community based on the side you chose. When cops are bad, we'll call them on it. When they are good, we praise them and thank them.

thread where folks are enjoined against talking to cops even when innocent. The theme is 'they are out to get you and will do whatever them must to do so' even though the thread starts out on a positive note.

26. I'm referring more to the ALL COPS SUCK sentiment that is present.
I've got no problemn calling out the jerks. There are plenty of cops that are power hungry jerks that likely shouldn't have a badge. There are also plenty who are great folks. Most fall somewhere in the middle like most of us in our respective professions. Of course I'm one of the great guys. :eyes:

12. From what I know about Charlie Sheen this seems plausible
It's more likely that she was pissed at him for some stupid thing he did... plus she was 3X as drunk which would make her more likely to lose control.

it is yet to be determined whether he is guilty or not. The OP links to a TMZ piece that does not claim the allegation is "false."

21. Oh yeah, the "I was only trying to defend myself" crap
If someone has the opportunity to get away from the abuse, they need to take it and not stick around "defending" himself.

Walk, hop, skip, drive, or run away.

If the attacker follows, then get to a place where there will be witnesses and then there's less chance of being "falsely accused" of domestic violence.

If the abuse continues, then get the fuck out of the relationship. Don't sit around whining about how rotten the other person is and how they "won't change". Get help, or get the hell out.

32. I had this happen to me.....my ex was drunk also, he had me
backed into a corner, I pushed him to get out and he fell. Called the sheriff and reported me for domestic violence. The sheriff said he knew who was at fault but because he (ex) was the one who called he (sheriff) had to go through the motions against me. During conversations with lawyer, ex recanted but I was still charged, I told the judge he fell because he was drunk the judge told me he fell because I pushed him, case closed. I was convicted, extenuating circumstances didn't/don't matter.
