Poll question: Should Rahm Emanuel be investigated?
Just investigated. Not necessarily convicted. Not necessarily forced to resign - just investigated.

Allegations are outlined (with minimal spin) from the http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/politics/obama/chi-rahm-emanuel-profit-26-mar26,0,5682373.story">Chicago Tribune:

On Emanuel's watch, the board was told by executives of a plan to use accounting tricks to mislead shareholders about outsize profits the government-chartered firm was then reaping from risky investments. The goal was to push earnings onto the books in future years, ensuring that Freddie Mac would appear profitable on paper for years to come and helping maximize annual bonuses for company brass.

The accounting scandal wasn't the only one that brewed during Emanuel's tenure.

During his brief time on the board, the company hatched a plan to enhance its political muscle. That scheme, also reviewed by the board, led to a record $3.8 million fine from the Federal Election Commission for illegally using corporate resources to host fundraisers for politicians. Emanuel was the beneficiary of one of those parties after he left the board and ran in 2002 for a seat in Congress from the North Side of Chicago.

1. Yes, he should. The DLC spin artists have shifted to the debate to making this about Jane Hamsher.
and not Rahm and his dirty dealings.

2. True. It's unfortunate that Hamesher & Norquist are taking up the cause.
And not Eric Holder. What's he done, anyways? Anything?

Maybe we should be asking for his resignation?

4. Could have something to do with that he has been under investigation 3 times
already on it, and nothing has been found. That of course assumes the thread i read here on du a short while ago is accurate(but if it is, then how many more times should Rahm be investigated for the same thing)

I could rattle several issues in which Obama Administration has taken a reactionary position to gage your progressive bons fides.

10. I'm actually trying to cut through the bullshit.
Given the allegations, should he be investigated?

If you want a valid reason to say no, you could say something like "The government has already acted on these and other allegations in 2008"

Jane Hamsher and Grover Norquist are trying to revive something that has already been investigated, with hearings held during the Republican-controlled 108th Congress by the House SUBCOMMITTEE ON COMMERCE, TRADE, AND CONSUMER PROTECTION when guess who was chair?

32. You mean he was investigated by the same agency that cleared Madoff of any wrongdoing..
despite being handed specific and detailed information from highly reputable sources alleging that Madoff was running a massive Ponzi scheme.

You'll pardon those of us who don't simply take the SEC's word for things.

8. Minimal spin? From the Tribune, one very republican
"newspaper?"

Illinois has lots of scandals and corruption. The Trib gives minimal coverage to the republican scandals and overhypes the Democratic ones.

Perhaps because politicians in both parties are corrupt!

17. I voted no
Why waste valuable resources on such an idiotic idea? People don't like Rahm for reasons I do not understand. Some of the hate may be related to anti-Semitism or just blind hatred of anyone connected with our President.

Truth is, those two douchebags should be sharing a cell in prison, since they are both enablers of treason.

Face it, until the * scene is jailed and sentenced we have no law and no need to run the Dems up the pole. Why waste the time? Spend the energy helping those in need.

Investigate him.

If he is a pure little lamb, What does he have to hide?

edit to add: All other discussion of the personalities involved with this; ie Jane and Grover, is distractionary bullshit , you might as well fixate on WWF or Brangelina for all the difference it makes.

people sat on the board with Emanuel? If he's investigated, shouldn't they be also?
