Good thing we invaded Iraq
Otherwise there might still be terrorism.

I think Bush was right to let Bin Laden go and attack Saddam. This latest terrorist shows Saddam Hussein is still orchestrating Al Qaeda attacks from the grave. Imagine what he would have done if we left him alive.

I'm not sure what we do about Saddam now. Hang the guy, kill his offspring, take over his country...nothing seems to stop him. We should check with Dick Cheney and the GOP. Maybe the chemical weapon factories were converted to time machines just before the invasion. We need more GOP national security genius right now.

My two cents.

1. By now everyone realizes Iraq was about establishing a permanent US military presence in that region

2. some people are still hanging on to the propaganda
that Iraq was full of al queda...same ones who think afghanistan is about terrorism too

both, of course, are wrong.

5. Yes, Afghanistan is the same MO. Except we'll get our asses chased out of there, after thousands of
our soldiers are killed or wounded, for nothing.

3. By now?
Some of us knew it even before it happened.

4. And wasn't all the gleeful coverage of his hanging just
so special ???

No apologies from me on thinking it disgusting. No matter what the man did ...... his people ate, intermarried between religions, health-care was free, women had rights, were doctores, lawyers ....... Hussein was ruthless with those who opposed him, on that I agree. He made deals with those who he knew could help during the genocidal sanctions ...... yeah bad. He built himself palaces ....... bad again. His people have said over and over life was better under his rule. Yet his hanging was a worldwide spectacle. Still sickens me, and always will.

6. We are so busy in Iraq and Af(now)Pak
that AFRICOM -- well Yemen now -- and Latin America hardly make a blip.

Our Empire. insert sarcasm smilie here.

We spent more for Plan Columbia to date and the base in Djibouti (aaaargh pirates and alquaeda) than Senator Sander's $10 Billion for health centers in the HCR.
