4. I think you're missing the point
They are four senators who are powerful by virtue of the fact they are necessary for a supermajority vote to end cloture in a partisan standoff. In that respect the op-ed is true.

This doesn't mean it is morally right, just that realistically they are in the very center of the political spectrum of American politics right now.

I can't stand that these "blue dogs" hold so much power, but I do believe we shouldn't be in denial about it.

10. Someone posted earlier that this is why progressives in the House
need to demand changes in the Senate HCR bill or threaten to vote against it--and mean it. I thought the poster might be exaggerating. Now I don't.
