How many DU'ers have gotten Notice their Insurance Rates Going Up from 6 to 8% for the New Year? |
|
Edited on Sun Dec-27-09 07:58 PM by KoKo
It's incredible the Jack Up of Rates. Is this based on Insurance Companies building in a rate increase in case Congress didn't give them what they wanted or based on the results of what they knew was coming down in the Compromised House & Senate Bill?
Have any other DU'ers seen these huge increases in a time of such low inflation in our Economy that our Savings can't even earn a decent rate?
Both of us are in good health and only one of us is on a cholesterol lowering drug. So we aren't sick and nothing has changed with us in the past year for both of us to get these huge increases.
So..WHY? And, since NEW BILL says monthly health care changes don't come in until 2014 why did both of us get this huge increase THIS YEAR? And, who will roll it back? BTW..this is from Blue Cross/Blue Shield, the only insurer for our Small Business Company in my state. We don't have any other alternative for our business because it's under 50 people.

5. yes...my wife`s insurance went up 80 per month. |
|
now they won`t insure me if i have a job that offers insurance. since i retired at 62 i can`t work anywhere that offered any shitting insurance-walmart. i have`t checked the medicine increases.
what no one wants to talk about is the big pile of steaming shit called medical bankruptcy. they`ll be a 30 million more potential customers for the lawyers to help people bail out of medical debt.

6. My company split my insurance into med, dental, and vision |
|
And the medical coverage STILL went up. The dental and vision are now in addition to that.

8. I nearly went with the Low POS plan this year. |
|
Probably should have, but my Cadillac plan is still worth it to me, especially if I truly need it.
I thought the point of insurance was protecting me against losses I don't have the money for. Silly me... :D

10. I'm switching from an Aetna HMO to BCBS Basic and a $1300/year health savings account. |
|
Keeps the premiums about the same as they are now and no real difference in coverage.

9. The Insurance Companies are a business and they will do what is |
|
good for business. They have no obligation to the enrollees. They will continue to hike prices because our Party has sold their soul to them. Sure, they may talk tough but they know darn well they cannot control the Insurance Companies.
This is why most Liberals wanted a Public Option. The Government could sell policies at much lower rate and this would have forced the Insurance Companies to bring their prices to a reasonable rate. It they did not bring their prices down people would move into the Government Plan.
The Insurance Cos fought this tooth and nail and won. They wanted no part of competition. The Senate said OK no competition and threw in the towel. Thus we have a Center Right Bill. Chris Wallace even said if the Senate had started off with this present bill, they would have had GOP votes.

My rates didn't go up which could make me especially lucky since my insurance plan comes close to fitting the definition of a Cadillac plan. It isn't really that difficult to reach the threshold for what is considered a Cadillac plan, especially if you live in a state where insurance tends to be expensive and you have decent coverage.
