Here at DU, what can we do to protest?
I want to let the president know that I am very unhappy that he isn't doing what I thought he would do when I helped vote him into office. What can I do?
Childish thinking I guess.........

2. Not childish thinking at all; a very vital, necessary question.
Beyond letters and calls to, and protesting in front of, the White House and Congress, I'm not sure what else we can do. I'll be watching this thread to see what other DUers come up with.

3. There is nothing wrong with your question
At least you are taking a postitive approach. I am disheartened to see others on this board unrec you for your honest question, even if they don't agree with the premise.

is simply too narrow-minded to belong here.

I agree with a prior response that e-mails---plus phone calls and snail mails---are one way to make your dissatisfaction known. I'd be sure to include my senators and my Congressperson in that correspondence.

MY ERROR:---meant to respond to OP.

18. When all else fails, put words in someone else's mouth to make yourself look right.

Nowhere in that post did I equate Obama with Hitler, and your attempt to frame it as such is rather amusing.

The whole point of the Post, is that it is dangerous to put blind faith and assumption that ANY leader has your best interests at heart, simply because he is on your "Football Team", or have bind faith in ANY leader in general. History has shown how dangerous that precedent can be, and even though the example is an extreme one, it is valid.

You would think we would have learned that lesson after eight years under a previous dictatorship.

Now, we have the alarming trend of people on OUR side acting every bit as unquestioning and fanatical toward THIS President, as the giggling murderer's foolish followers afforded him.

It appears that it really CAN work both ways.

And I don't find much HOPE for real CHANGE in a country like that.

The only thing that appears to have changed so far is the bird cage liner.

And maybe a kinder, gentler approach to fascism.

NEITHER Side is on our side.

And choosing to be blind to that fact does not make it disappear.

10. I've rec'ed your post
Though, in all honesty, I don't think Obama and his WH care any more about our e-mails than they do about making sure we get a public option. :(

20. Here at DU? What can you do?
Edited on Sun Dec-27-09 11:04 PM by BeFree
Do like just about everyone else and attack, viciously and without remorse, any one who even begins to act like they still like Obama.

That'll show 'em. :sarc:

What I try to do is realize that I don't know exactly what is happening in DC.
And realizing that, keep some faith that the progressives we do have in DC, will make an honest attempt at keeping our democracy alive given all the harm caused it by the republicans over the last 30 years.

We are witness to a great struggle and if there is a way that I can help those fighting for us, I will do it. And as far as 'on DU' try to keep the peace where warranted and chase away those who trash DU and in general fling crap on our good members.
