Inherited

Mary Matalin this morning (http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0912/27/sotu.03.html):

I was there. We inherited a recession from President Clinton and we inherited the most tragic attack on our own soil in our nation's history. And President Bush dealt with it. And within a year of his presidency at this comparable time, unemployment was at 5 percent. And we were creating jobs.

Obviously the real obscenity is that 9 months into Bush's presidency, after Operation Ignore, he inherited the WTC/Pentagon attacks, but she's even full of shit on unemployment. It was much better than it is now, of course, but 5.7%, rising eventually to 6.3%, isn't 5%.

6. True, but...
...she's seldom given the appropriate amount of credit for BEING full of shit. The media is often far too willing to provide an unchallenged platform for her lunacy.

3. And the 'Bush recovery' was the first recovery since WWII that resulted in most of the benefits of
growth in GDP going to corporate profits instead of worker's wages and jobs. Historically, recoveries since WWII resulted in over 60% of the growth in GDP going to workers with the balance seen in corporate profits. Bush' 'recovery was just the opposite. I fear the current recovery may see the same or worse numbers but will see what the next year or 2 brings.

4. He inherited it from his Uncle Dick.
Who agreed to remain behind, managing the aftermath for Junior, as long as his location was undisclosed.

Talk about yer deal with the devil.

5. The * CONs redefined 'recession' and recalculated back to 1929.
Immediately said (SAID!) that Clinton left them with a recession. Then, later in that presidency, took over a year to tell US that they had been ruling during a recession of their own.

Oh, and the new idea of a recession? Hmm. If you can round a period DOWN into negative numbers and then make another period not even next to it go down, even though you, yourself, do that, you can blame the person afore you as starting a recession. Who but a CON could do that with a straight face.

Dan Akroyd responded to Jane Curtin. "Mary you ignorant slut" would be perfect.

10. Ohh-KAY. That sure doesn't square with them pesky ol' FACTS, but keep on lying, Mary.
From this Journal entry:

Longest stretch during 1999-2009 that American economy has failed to achieve the 150,000 jobs per month requirement: March 2001 through March 2004.

Average amount of jobs created in the American economy per month for the period January 2001 through December 2004: 8,312/month. That would be 141 thousand jobs short of requirement each MONTH. So much for the whole “tax cuts for the rich = jobs, jobs, jobs” argument.

11. Mary Matalin would say that sulfuric acid is good for you if Dick Cheney claimed it
And if some big Republican contributors were know to be big producers of sulfuric acid.

Her game is spin, not truth. Why should anyone be expecting her to change her tune now?
