Just talked to Are_Grits_Groceries
She's ok, but her computer died on Christmas, so that's why she hasn't been posting. She's trying to get it fixed or get another one. Anyway, she just wanted me to let you know why she hasn't been around.

1. Good karma sent her way.. |

Dead computers are a nightmare, been through that a few times. The best advice I can give is to install the OS on its own hard drive. Then it's just a matter of swapping in a new OS drive for the old one. Keeps your data relatively safe on the non-OS drive.

4. It depends on what dies. |

I kept two HDs piggybacked on the Antichrist, which used to corrupt the OS every six weeks or so. I'd have copied data from the secondary drive onto the primary drive and when it conked out, I'd do a clean OS reinstall, and transfer the data back onto it.
It was a pain in the ass but it worked. I kept the Antichrist going for five years.
