Two reasons for the Senate Recess

It gives you time to forget how pissed off at them you are,

and

it gives them time to find new ways to assault our sensibilities.

1. it gives them time to party with lobbyists and collect envelopes of cash

while more American families move into tents.

2. or one might say, lots of money has been spent on them in the last few months, now they can enjoy it

It would be very interesting to see just where every memeber of the Senate spent their recess time. I'd bet more than just a few hours of it will be spent on warm beaches in places where we don't collect income tax.
