Reid to move on TSA post
http://www.politico.com/politico44/

MOVING ON CONFIRMATIONS: When the Senate reconvenes in January, Majority Leader Harry Reid intends to file cloture on the nomination of Erroll Southers, President Obama’s pick to lead the Transportation Security Administration, Reid spokesman Jim Manley told POLITICO. The move is intended to force debate and overcome the objections of a single Republican, Sen. Jim DeMint, who has stalled Southers's confirmation in an effort to prevent TSA workers from joining a labor union.

“We tried to confirm Mr. Southers last week, and Senator DeMint objected,” Manley said. “Mr. Southers is extremely well qualified and deserves to be confirmed as soon as possible.”

1. Good. And then he should push any other stalled appointment out there too
demanding that we have a fully staffed government in spite of the obstructionism.

2. I think there should be as many cloture filings
as there are pending confirmation votes...as soon as the Senate reconvenes.

It's time to call these obstructionists on their nonsense. Call for a cloture vote on every last one, and as soon as an objection is raised to an appointment.

Screw this crap by the GOOPers. Enough!

3. Gee wiz, Harry. Don't rush it.
Maybe we should wait another year or two. :eyes:

5. My first reaction was along the lines of Reid belatedly closing barn doors.
But there are a lot of irons in the fire. Rather than blame Reid, I'll hold DeMint accountable for his anti-labor, pro-terrorist tantrum.
