6. I'm so glad we traveled last month
and stayed home for Christmas. I'm not sure when I'm traveling again - I just canceled a trip to Trinidad for a friend's birthday. Can't bother with the airport torture.

9. For me if mom calls, add time for the fun and games
I was down there before the fun and games... and left a day after the fun and games.

The part that is amazing is that if they are doing this to make us feel safer, we don't.

If they are doing this to keep us 'fraid, no, not working either.

Oh and the foreign press is down right... shall we say NASTY about this... the Germans today called it over reaction.

2. Next up - body cavity search
I wonder at what point people are going to say enough is enough, and state an outright preference for the chance of terrorism over the certainty of intrusive and degrading security procedures.

3. Have there been any proactive security measures?
Shoe bomber? Remove the shoes. Underwear bomber? New rules for that. Security measures that I see are done after the fact to hopefully stop the known threat but little if anything on a proactive basis.

4. Clearly, terrorism has achieved it's goal.
A strong nation, true to it's principles and inhabited by a free and brave people would never let this nonsense at the airports happen. There's no point in recapping the horrors we have all seen: grandmothers taken aside, infants being forced to remove 2" shoes while they are being carried, irate Americans who protest too loudly openly being hassled by a hostile TSA.
Still, there is no guarantee - anymore than we can guarantee a safe, mechanically sound aircraft.
Most saddening to me is the acceptance and compliance by a once free and brave people who now eagerly trade freedom for fascism in exchange for perceived security.
