Judge orders records opened in Palin custody case
Edited on Tue Dec-29-09 07:07 PM by Froward69

The custody dispute between Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin over their now 1-year-old son Tripp is playing out in court, and despite Palin's efforts to keep the case confidential, a judge last week opened it to the public.
<snip>

"I know that public scrutiny will simplify this matter and act as a check against anyone's need to be overly vindictive, aggressive or malicious, not that Bristol would ever be that way, nor that I would. But her mother is powerful, politically ambitious and has a reputation for being extremely vindictive," Johnston said in his affidavit. "So, I think a public case might go a long way in reducing Sarah Palin's instinct to attack."
<snip>

Alaska Superior Court Judge Kari Kristiansen of Palmer ruled on Dec. 23 that Bristol Palin hadn't provided any evidence that Tripp would be harmed by the anticipated publicity. She ordered all the sealed records opened.

In addition, Sharon Gleason, presiding judge for the judicial district, ruled against Bristol Palin's request to use pseudonyms.

3. What do they have to hide?
Johnston is correct. I wish him luck, and I hope Sarah loses out.
I think he has dirt on her that he will not use, unless necessary.

5. Johnston knows the pit bull he's
dealing with and he keeps her on a short leash. They tried to minipulate him when it was to their advantage.
I hope he gets joint custody.

and I am thrilled that the judges are not caving to Palin's whims. This whole custody battle is all Sarah's doing, I'm sure, and I'm pleased that Levi is calling her out.

I think it's pretty pathetic that they're referring to the child as Tripp E. Johnston-Palin, as well, when his name is in reality Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston. They can't change that fact just because they feel like it.

12. Funny you should mention real-life soap operas.
When I read about this court fight earlier, I pondered if soap operas will go the way of snail mail. With our information age there are more interesting real life sagas being played out.

14. Levi Johnston is an asset to Democrats and we shouldn't attack him
or even ridicule him. For just ONCE, stop the snark and hipper-than-thou insecurity and LET LEVI FUCKING TRIP SARAH.

15. I believe Levi has been getting a good liberal education
from his lawyer Rex Butler and Tank, the PI. Here's a bio of Rex Butler for those not familiar with his qualifications and political leanings. http://www.rexattys.com/DynamicAttorneys.shtml?wldpid=2758854_1&mailpagename=ObfuscatedForm&p=yes .

We all remember Levi the "redneck" from the campaign, but I think he's been making some giant strides. I appreciate that when asked how he felt about becoming something of a gay icon after his Playgirl shoot, he said he didn't have a problem with it, that we're all just people after all. Throughout this whole time he has not badmouthed Bristol or even Sarah, despite the way she has tried to tear him down. I understand form sources here that he has been paying child support. I don't know Levi personally, but I'm on his side. He didn't ask for this, and under the circumstances, I think he's handling himself well for a 19-year-old.

17. I Agree
it seems Levi turned on Sarah the day of his moms arrest. possibly Bristol had a role playing there too.

But all in all Levi is vilified by the right for not going through with the shotgun wedding. like He had no choice in the matter. only their idea of the ideal for ol' granny to remain illustrious.

22. not that my opinion matters (it wasn't me got knocked up due to 'abstinence failure)...
...but I think Levi and Bristol made the right call in choosing NOT to get married, even if there IS a child in the case.

They can't stand each other now. What kind of marriage is that going to be? Certainly not a 'sanctified' one :eyes:.
It's also a living HELL of an environment for a child to grow up in; especially if it's dumped on the kid's head that "We (or "Your parents") only got married and are staying together for YOUR sake!"

Given the personalities and...I guess you'd call it emotional maturity...of the people involved, you can bet that's it WILL be dumped on him.

21. You are indeed correct.
Witness this little blurb in this morning's Anchorage Daily News:

http://www.adn.com/sarah-palin/story/1073055.html

JOHNSTON, Iowa -- Iowa U.S. Rep. Steve King predicted Tuesday that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will seek the Republican presidential nomination and has a good chance of winning Iowa's leadoff caucuses.

"I think we'll see her in Iowa," King said. "There are a good number of people who could win the Iowa caucuses and I would put her in the top five or so who would be in a good position to do so."

King represents an overwhelmingly Republican district in western Iowa that is key to any GOP candidate's bid in the caucuses. Although he initially thought Palin had ended her political career when she resigned as governor last summer, King said she's recovered and is in a stronger position than before.

"I thought she had made a career decision that would be hard to bounce back from," King said. "It looks like she's bounced back from it and gone from there."

Palin has been to the state only once since the last presidential election, when she was Republican John McCain's running mate. She held a book-signing event earlier this month in Sioux City where access was tightly controlled.

It's unfathomable to me that people could be so fooled by this witch, but there you have it. I hope information comes out during the course of this custody dispute that blows her clear out of the water. I am thrilled that the judge decided to open this up. Perhaps she was familiar with the Palins' meddling in the Wooten custody dispute.

24. People forget that Bush got enough votes
to occupy the WH for 8 years; it would be a big mistake to over-estimate the voting public.

Let's get it all out on the Palin.
