Sen. Hatch admits GOP ’standard practice’ was to run up deficit
http://rawstory.com/2009/12/hatch-admits-gop-standard-practice/
MSNBC's Rachel Maddow believes she has found the smoking gun proving Republicans' hypocrisy on health care and the budget deficit: an admission by Utah Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch that, during the Bush administration, "it was standard practice not to pay for things."

1. Never forget the views of the Conservative of the Year-Cheney to Treasury: "Deficits don't matter"
http://www.ontheissues.org/2004/Dick_Cheney_Budget_+_Economy.htm
<snip>
Former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill was told "deficits don't matter" when he warned of a looming fiscal crisis.

O'Neill, fired in a shakeup of Bush's economic team in December 2002, raised objections to a new round of tax cuts and said the president balked at his more aggressive plan to combat corporate crime after a string of accounting scandals because of opposition from "the corporate crowd," a key constituency.

O'Neill said he tried to warn Vice President Dick Cheney that growing budget deficits-expected to top $500 billion this fiscal year alone-posed a threat to the economy. Cheney cut him off. "You know, Paul, Reagan proved deficits don't matter," he said, according to excerpts. Cheney continued: "We won the midterms (congressional elections). This is our due." A month later, Cheney told the Treasury secretary he was fired.

ultimately the economy on purpose. Yet the faithful shrilly chanted: four more years, four more years, prima-facie that large segments of the American electorate are a bunch of ideologically-blinded ignoramuses. :P

Edited for spelling

2. Do Not Ever Forget that Running up Deficits means that in time you
must reduce them. This means you can cut Entitlement Programs
Cut Entitlement Programs Cut Entitlement Programs hopefully
until they are gone. Entitlement Programs, Welfare, Medicare
anS Social Security are anathem to Conservative Thinking.
The Starve the Beasters recognize that you can never outright
talk about getting rid of them by privatization so they have
decided to cut cut cut until one day they can say--We can
no longer afford these. SS is gone.

4. ah, but there's the beauty of the republicans' evil ways -- THEY never have to reduce their deficits
it's up to DEMOCRATS to reduce REPUBLICAN deficits. so the republicans get to take credit for all the lavish spending and blame democrats for all the tax hikes.

it's incredibly irresponsible and dastardly immoral, but political genius.

provided of course that you've got the media wrapped around your little finger so that they don't just laugh at the plan outright.
