Newt Gingrich shows up FIVE times on Meet The Press this year
and how many times did Nancy Pelosi (0) or Harry Reid (1) appear? The bias by MTP is staggering.

5. Since there are Blue Dogs and Centrists who actually run against
Pelosi, Reid and DC Democrats in their races at home,
the Democratic Leadership do not appear on TV. for
fear of messing things up for them.

Does this not make you proud of your party??

A fes years back, I believe it was Candy Crowly on CNN
who ran a piece during the election illustrating how
Conservative Democrats run their elections.

This very year, I watched M. Ross, D Arkansas conduct
a town meeting in his state. He emphaisized how he
stands up to Obama and Pelosi. "I stand up to Obama and Pelosi"

With friends like these who needs enemies.

This is not the Media's fault. The usual practice is
to give the party in power first dibs on TV. Our Party
declines. This gives the Gingriches of the world more
and more appearances..

9. That is how my birthplace went from Liberal to Conservative.

Republicans won very few contests in the county where I grew up in those days. But it was only moderately liberal. So local Democrats decided to copy Clinton's "run against your own party" strategy. They'd keep their base while making it impossible for Republicans to get the swing vote.

Except that decades of anti-DNC language by both sides gradually shifted that center far to the Right of where even the Republicans had been when they started this strategy. And as progressives on DU always say, why vote for a Democrat who acts like a Republican, when you can vote for a Republican (who will put a Republican instead of the Liberal Democrat in as Speaker)?

High school friends once accused me of changing politically since moving to Chicago. So we went through the old issues one-by-one and found that, except for the pro-gun stance on which we still agreed, they had completely reversed their opinions while mine had remained the same. Of course, they then tossed out the old "growing wiser" canard.

My dad noticed it too. Sitting in the American Legion one day, he burst into a brief tirade at a bunch of people he'd known his whole life accusing them of forgetting how to speak proper English. They always had a hillbilly twang and some parochialisms. But they mostly spoke decent English. Nowadays I practically need a translator.

And education? The majority of my high school graduation class went on to college. Today, very few do. Not because they can't afford it. But because they disdain higher education. Where families used to brag about a member graduating college, they now shake their heads in embarassment. How in the hell could they convince people that learning is bad?

7. Are Reid or Pelosi Hawking Books?
Newty's people are begging for TV exposure so he can push more of his (partially ghost written) books. That's what he does, goes on the tube and looks all presidentially so more of the ignorant masses will buy his books. Check it out. He shows up whenever he craps out one of these books.
