N.Y. has a nuke plant event

http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index.php?smp=&lang=eng

Federal regulators say there is no danger to the public after a small amount of a radioactive isotope was discovered on the Fitzpatrick Nuclear Power Plant complex in Scriba. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission says Tritium was discovered in a sump near the reactor building. The sump is used to keep groundwater away from the building. An NRC spokesman tells us the isotope most likely came from inside the plant, at a level far below what is allowed in drinking water. The NRC is continuing to monitor the situation, and says the current level of the isotope poses no health risk.

1. Just so you know

It occurs naturally.

The legal limits for tritium in drinking water can vary. Some figures are given below.

* Canada: 7,000 Becquerel per liter (Bq/L).
* United States: 740 Bq/L or 20,000 picocurie per liter (pCi/L) (Safe Drinking Water Act)
* World Health Organization: 10,000 Bq/L.
* European Union: 'investigative' limit of 100 Bq/L.

The U.S. limit is calculated to yield a dose of 4 mrem (or 40 microsieverts in SI units) per year.

Why would they have standards for places not even around nuke plants?

It was lower then the standard.

More anti-nuclear hogwash.

Just so you know.

If they continue to publish half truths and out right lies liken "The Little Boy who Cried WOLF" no one will listen to them
