How I'd win in Afghanistan

Childishly simplistic, you might say - but I'd be it would work better than what we are doing now.

First, get every one of our troops out of the country with the sole exception of our Embassy Guards, who of course will be United States Marines, now some clowns from whatever Blackwater is being called these days. Next, bombard the nation with little portable radios and batteries for them and then set up radio stations all over the country broadcasting pro US propaganda 27/7 along with informative (and true) news of the region, agricultural information, and I've have discussion programs where in every case our side would be the heros and islamic terrorists would be portrayed as whatever was least popular in the country. And I'd spend money in the country too, building roads and schools and such and news of those activities would be broadcast day in and day out. And every day I'd drop more radios and more batteries out of airplanes all over the country - day after day after day.

And I'd never lose a troop. And I'd be spending a lot less money than we are today. And I'd grind them down. Remember, this is a nation of 28 million of which less than a quarter (indeed possibly less than a tenth) can read or write; they get their news (and like everyone else their Views) from TV or radio or word of mouth. You want to shape what they think? Then tell them what to think and make it so prevalent that it can not be avoided.
