Caller to Hartmann: It's over
Lonnie (2:40): New airplane rules show how deeply entrenched fascism is. You (Thom) keep telling us to join your local Dem party. What for? Millions marched against the war. Big majority want real health care. We can't win. The fascists have won.

Thom: that's the attitude Robert Rubin and the rest of the fat cats want you to have. Join PDA or another movement.

I'm with Lonnie. I had to sit through 2 minutes of Fox "News" today while waiting at the barber. I can't figure out which group is more determined to destroy America - Fox or Al Qaeda. With no DC representatives and no media representation, we have no real hope.

Catch Hartmann replay at 3:00 ET

2. I did. As soon as I made it to the chair I asked him
to turn the channel, and he did.

4. My doctor's office has Fuax newz on all the time
so I ask to sit in the inner waiting room where I don't have to listen to it. It helps to keep my blood pressure down before seeing the dr. :hi:

3. You don't stop fighting for your life until you're dead.
I don't see the Iranians rolling over and giving up the fight.

7. You also don't keep doing the same useless things over and over
and expect the situation to change. That is one definition of insanity, and I think we (the vast liberal majority) are insane to think the situation will change on the current course.

6. Y'all aren't getting it...it's not about turning off Fox News
They are merely a symptom of a much larger problem.

The real issue is that our representatives don't represent us; they don't listen to us and they don't give a shit what the majority wants.

A clear majority wants a public option; we won't get it. A huge majority didn't want the bankster bailout; we got it anyway. How many more times do I have to write and call before I realize that the next letter/email/phone call is going to be just as ineffective as the last?

So I would like to ask Thom Hartman how many more times do I tell myself "this time it will be different; just one more..." before I decide that this is the very definition of insanity?

8. Tragically well said, MindPilot.
It's waaaaayyyy too far gone to stop or even deflect whatever dark, totalitarian future has been laid out for us.

It was probably waaaaayyyy too late in December 2000.

They have us. At every stage their Professional Lie Industry, which is by far now America's #1 Industry, measured and metered our internal demise as potential citizens.

The OJ Trial was a milestone and a test of sorts, to see just how far up InfoPropaganda's asshole we were.

Even back then, it may have been too late, considering the media had been decimated by Coporate Power and RW Propaganda.

But yes, MindPilot, for all the hundreds of facets and thousands of reasons of why we are here today, living under Inverted Totalitarianism, it really boils down to what you said so succinctly in your post.

11. Right you are tom_paine
as usual. I am amazed at how many are "our side" are completely unaware of our current dire situation. I am not amazed that the hate radio addicts are unaware - are cheering it. But those of US who think the Health Care bill is the first step toward reclaiming our country are really discouraging.

13. I would love to believe that. I just see no real evidence of it.
By the way, love your avatar, sigline and sigphoto.

Have a very happy new year and I will pray that I and people who see what I do are just hysterical and overwrought, missing something key that will mean 100% the opposite of what it looks like to our lying eyes again and again and again (that's a lot of "ands in a sentence - please don't report me to the grammar police  )

:hi:

15. The 4th stage of grief is depression. Then there's one more stage
We're all grieving for the loss of our country whether we were holding some unrealistic illusion about it or whether we weren't. Lately there's been a lot of depression. Thom Hartman and many of us are simply up to the 5th stage already. Once we accept that things are the way they are we will move to the next step which is to start building a real movement. Remember it took the Republican Neo Cons 30 years to set themselves up to ruin everything once they had gained power in every branch of government as well as the msm.

***********

Five Stages Of Grief

1. Denial and Isolation.
At first, we tend to deny the loss has taken place, and may withdraw from our usual social contacts. This stage may last a few moments, or longer.
2. Anger.
The grieving person may then be furious at the person who inflicted the hurt (even if she's dead), or at the world, for letting it happen. He may be angry with himself for letting the event take place, even if, realistically, nothing could have stopped it.
3. Bargaining.
Now the grieving person may make bargains with God, asking, "If I do this, will you take away the loss?"
4. Depression.
The person feels numb, although anger and sadness may remain underneath.
5. Acceptance.
This is when the anger, sadness and mourning have tapered off. The person simply accepts the reality of the loss.

16. Many on our side are still in stage 1
Lots and lots of denial. So I guess we have a long time before enough people make it to stage 5 and join the revolution.
