Exposed: The Carlyle Group

Shocking documentary uncovers the subversion of Americas democracy.

I defy you to watch this 48 minute documentary and not be outraged about the depth of corruption and deceit within the highest ranks of our government.

"The war in Iraq does not seem to be over al all, but in the meantime the rebuilding has already started. This has unleashed fiercecompetition for contracts, which are mainly awarded to American (ed: U.S.) companies.

What is remarkable about these companies, is that they have people on their payroll from American politics and the military. Is this a conflict of interest, or is this the new global way of doing business?

One of the companies that operates in this manner is the Carlyle Group." On their payroll are people like : George Bush (Sr.), James Baker III and old premier John Major.

Note: The first one minute forty seven seconds of this program is in broadcast in Dutch, The remainder is in English.

A MUST see for all DUers

Really? Like he has a job with them?

9. neo-liberal = neo-con = neo-f... well you know where this is going.
pretty good liberals != neo-liberals, FWIW. neo-liberals = pretty bad liberals.

Maybe you ought to watch the doc the OP posted. Frankly the corruption of the Carlyle group is pretty old news.

And while I'm sure they have many liberals in their pocket to claim that this "organization" is not "conservative" is quite ignorant. If you are going to come to DU to troll and match wits you better arm yourself a little better.

8. Four or five years ago, before I retired, I wacthed that documentary and saw my boss!
Turns out the company I was working for was connected with the Carlyle group and my boss was among a crowd of Carlyle group people in a group shot in the film. That came as a real shock to me at the time. Glad I don't work there any more.

1/2 a million dead Iraqi children are OK with Maddy A. Agreed she's no liberal. But I'm guessing she's a Dem.

13. The Carlisle Ship Has Hit Some Rocks...
I don't think this syndicate is a secret to many of us here. However, I've read several articles where they've been hit hard during the global economic implosion. They gambled on a variety of companies that have or will be going bust. They lost a lot on the collapse of Dubai. Guess they'll have to launch another war to make up the shortfall.

Thanks for posting...

17. Whenever the Carlyle Group is mentioned, I remind that it was founded by a CARTER ex-staffer
Yes, Jimmy CARTER's breast was a virtual nest of vipers: Carlyle Group co-founding partner David RUBENSTEIN, Tweety, Pat CADDELL... But here's RUBENSTEIN's vignette of Shrub being Shrub: Idiot, fool, vulgar, useless::

HOW BUSH GOT BOUNCED FROM CARLYLE BOARD

SUZAN MAZUR

.... But when we were putting the board together, somebody (Fred Malek) came to me and said, look there is a guy who would like to be on the board. He's kind of down on his luck a bit. Needs a job. Needs a board position. Needs some board positions. Could you put him on the board? Pay him a salary and he'll be a good board member and be a loyal vote for the management and so forth.
I said well we're not usually in that business. But okay, let me meet the guy. I met the guy. I said I don't think he adds that much value. We'll put him on the board because - you know - we'll do a favor for this guy; he's done a favor for us.

We put him on the board and spent three years. Came to all the meetings. Told a lot of jokes. Not that many clean ones. And after a while I kind of said to him, after about three years - you know, I'm not sure this is really for you. Maybe you should do something else. Because I don't think you're adding that much value to the board. You don't know that much about the company.

He said, well I think I'm getting out of this business anyway. And I don't really like it that much. So I'm probably going to resign from the board.

And I said, thanks - didn't think I'd ever see him again. His name is George W. Bush. He became President of the United States. So you know if you said to me, name 25 million people who would maybe be President of the United States, he wouldn't have been in that category. So you never know. Anyway, I haven't been invited to the White House for any things. ....

18. Weren't we all talking about the Carlyle Group all the time a few years ago?
It makes me wonder how many new DUers don't know much about the BFEE.

Time for Octafish to post some OPs I think.

19. I see National Guard troops going into Dunkin Doughnuts near their Base all the time.
I wonder if they realize that they are giving their money back to the corporation that sold the army defective body armor.
