*flamesuit-on* Who else can we get to replace Napolitano? |
|
I know we don't want to give in to GOP a-holes, but when you have Democrats like Richard Codey from NJ calling for her to step down, there is a problem.
Who would give the administration (who I care about more than any individual player) the most gravitas for this role?
I'm not a freeper so don't yell at me. I've been on this board since Day 1, have supported Obama since the 2004 speech, and I worked in the WTC.

On edit... I'm not suggesting she should step down but if she should, a Wes Clark -type would be a good foil for RW attacks.

It's 2010 now, so it's time to give Gates the Chimp flunkie the boot, and return the General to the Pentagon.
Speaking as someone with ties to Arizona though, I'm going to be real pissed off if that state lost its governor, to be replaced by a piece of shit like Jan Brewer, all for nothing. I don't see any reason why Janet should resign.

I suggested someone because that was the question. But I don't think she should step down because (a) she didn't do anything wrong, and (b) doing so would be perceived by the GOPers as weakness.

13. I'm torn to be honest. |

I really don't want GOP fuck heads to win, but I really don't think she is long for this job. Maybe she steps down a few months later when it blows over a bit. Why would some governor for Arizona run our National Security program? ME NO UNDERSTAND. ME SIMPLE CAVEMAN.

Sorry. She did. Let's call it what it is. Sometimes you need to roll heads. The "system worked"? What's the diff between that an "Brownie did a heck of a job"?
She also imbues 0% confidence in me as someone who lost friends in 9/11.... She looks like a grandma, not like an ass kicker.

15. I'm an Arizonan--she got our wingnut state legislature in line. That takes a willingness to risk |

it all.
You seriously underestimate her.
She's an ass-kicker, she just isn't vocal about it.

I love AZ by the way, going there soon.
She doesn't appear to be tough.

4. Why don't we just shut down DHS? |
|
And return all the agencies under it back to where they were before Bush.

16. Probably not a bad idea. |
|
And just have on Jack Bauer style "CTU" office in LA that everyone operates out of with a bunch of badasses that get jiggy when they need to.

19. Why is "having a personality" a qualification for the job? |

Somebody who is dull, dweebish and thoroughly competent would be fine with me.

20. One of the big reasons she got the job was the way she held the Feds accountable during BushCo |
|
for patrolling the Nexican border.
Not to mention she kicked our ultra-red leggies collective asses.
Personality? Not much. I didn't often even agree with her. But she gets things done, believe it.
