Colorado the state with the highest registration of organ doners at 64%
our local news did a little research on the top 5 states that had registered organ doners. I can't remember the other four, but I found it interesting that Colorado topped the list.

Are you an organ donor?

I am and so are my hubby and daughter.

9. I take anti rejection drugs that cause high BP
so that's two, then prophylactic zantac as it also is tough on the stomach. ! shot a week and 1 pill daily to prevent a recurrence of hepatitis.
The first couple of days were tough but they had me walking after the anesthesia wore off, I was out of the hospital after a week or so

12. I don't know if I could now
because of the Chemo and all

I don't have cancer, I have crohn's that did not respond to standard treatment, so we had to take more drastic measures.

13. And some specifics:
Edited on Thu Dec-31-09 01:22 AM by Ms. Toad
For those who might be interested, but don't know where to start:

Organ Donation - www.organdonor.gov - www.donatelife.net
National bone marrow donor registry: http://www.marrow.org/ (all it takes to register is a cheek swab)

You can also be a live donor for liver and kidneys (at least). Here is a starting place if you are interested: http://www.transplantliving.org/livingdonation/livingdonor/default.aspx

(Disclaimer: My daughter registered as an organ donor when she got her drivers license just before her 17th birthday - a 4th generation organ donor; 20 months later she was diagnosed with an illness that means she will almost certainly need at least one liver transplant.)
