Free funerals for drunk drivers
Free funerals for drunk drivers

ROME, Ga., Dec. 30 (UPI) -- A Georgia funeral home says it is offering free services and burial for anyone who plans to drink or do drugs before driving on New Year's Eve.

Jennings and Miller Funeral Home in Rome said its doors are open for citizens to come in before noon Thursday and sign a contract stating their intention to drive after using alcohol or drugs. If the motorist is then killed while driving Thursday evening, the funeral home will prepare the remains and provide a casket, funeral, hearse ride and grave space, the Rome News-Tribune reported Wednesday.

Bosses at the funeral home said "Operation Stop and Think" is designed to get motorists thinking about the consequences of impaired driving.

5. Hm. If you were seriously planning suicide, and worried about your funeral costing money.....
I think you found your solution. Theoretically, anyway. I'm sure they will weasel out of it or set you up somehow.

6. Their license plate numbers are on these contracts, right?
If someone is stupid enough to walk into a private business and declare that yes, they ARE going to drive drunk, they should be more than willing to provide the license plate number of the car they're planning to do it in, so the cops can throw their sorry asses in jail BEFORE they kill anyone.

7. The twist is that you get a free funeral because....
They just kill you on the spot.

Do they offer free funerals for the innocent victims of drunk drivers?

If anyone on the list gets in a DUI accident and kills someone it should be first degree murder.

8. I was going to say: Drive the point home (pardon the pun) by including a disclaimer
at the bottom of the contract saying: "PLEASE NOTE: This contract covers the provision of a free funeral for the undersigned only. This funeral home will not cover the costs of a funeral for, nor pay any hospital bills related to, the death or injury of other parties as the result of the drunk driving of the undersigned. Should the undersigned kill or maim another human being as the result of his or her drunk driving, the undersigned will remain fully responsible for the consequences, including jail/prison time, hospital bills, and restitution as the judicial system may deem fit."
