Rush told EMT's he was taking Meds for Back Pain
Edited on Thu Dec-31-09 12:39 AM by RamboLiberal
Limbaugh, 58, suffered from chest pains, sources said. Limbaugh was sitting in a chair in his ninth-floor hotel room at the Kahala when emergency crews arrived, sources said. He told medical crews that he was taking medication for a back problem, sources said.

Paramedics treated him and took him to Queen's Medical Center in serious condition. He will not be released from the hospital on Wednesday night, sources said.

H'mmm - legal ones Rush? Wonder if he overmedicated.

Having suffered from back pain at times - no way in hell if I had to take meds for it would I be out golfing.

13. I will be going to school soon, but am torn between nursing and patient rehab
I hear nursing school is incredibly tough by those familiar with it;sounds a bit intimidating from what I've been told.

16. It's challenging and requires some work and study (unlike my
first go-round with college, when I could still manage B's/C's while blowing off class), but if you're a reasonably smart and diligent person, you'll do fine. Worst part of nursing school was dealing with the nursing instructors--they play favorites, it's very politicky and clique-y. Good luck.

18. Follow your heart
I know I did not go to Med School because of the chemistry. Perhaps I could hack it today, but I fear I am a tad too old for all the fun and games that med school would imply. At the very least TRY.

And yes, it can be hard. Also talk to people CURRENTLY in the field to tell you what it is like once you hit the field. That is my best advise.

24. The work isn't impossible
there's just a lot of it. Four year programs are a little more mellow than the two or three year programs, but both require you to make a serious commitment to the point of pretty much bidding a social life farewell for the duration.

The job is tough, but there's a tremendous amount of flexibility when it comes to moving around the country.

Over exertion will do it every time.

5. Any of these could produce cardiac effects
Lorcet, Norco and hydrocodone.

In recommended doses, but especially in an OD type of a situation.

I will not speculate, since yes, even in "safe" doses either of these could cause fun cardiac effects.

And I don't understand this...you live in Florida with almost 24 hours sunshine and beautiful breezes..then you jet off to Hawaii to play golf under plenty of sunshine and beautiful breezes. Had to be a reason to go to Hawaii.

14. If he admitted to taking "meds" for back pain
reading between the lines and all, wouldn't that mean he's using again? I don't think any recovering addict can take pain medications and still be considered to be in recovery. My guess is that he overdid a binge and brought on the chest pain.

30. I wondered that a few months ago already.
He did some TV interview and looked much slimmer than he had at a speaking appearance several months earlier. And I don't think Rush is much of a "sensible diet and hit the treadmill" kind of guy.

23. I suffer back pain to the point I blew off a fracture 12 years ago
because it didn't hurt that much more than normal. I take medication for back pain so that I can function and do what I want to do instead of sitting in a chair, staring at the wall, and hoping I die sooner rather than later until I decide to end it sooner. That's what chronic pain is like.

I choose to do the things that keep me going as well as hobbies like weaving, spinning, dyeing. The medication gives me three four hour periods a day to function. If he chooses golf, that's his thing.

Since he's run into serious trouble on opiates, it would be interesting to know what they've got him on.

My guess is that either his chest pain is GI, or his weight and cigar habit have finally caught up with him.

31. Now that's interesting,
I was listening to him a couple of weeks ago (see what the whack job right is up to) and he mentioned his back pain, specifically that he was having to broadcast while sitting down, or standing up, moving to relieve that pain because he could no longer take any pain medication due to his addictive experience with Oxy

I thought that this was a bit strange at the time, and now we find out that he was/is taking pain meds. Hmm.
