Ya know what's REALLY weird? |
|
All these zealots are always talking about God's Will, and "if we all pray, maybe it'll rain on Obama's Convention Speech", and they pray for Senator Byrd or some other Dem to "not be able to make it to the vote", and assholes like Katie Couric ask people like the Hudson-river-Pilot-Savior "Did you pray while you were landing the plane in the river?" and all that kind of stuff...
So given that they believe that God actually cares who wins the Pacers-Vikings or Eagles-Cowboys games, then can't they take a hint? Obama's had excellent weather for all his outdoor happenings, all the Senators showed up although one of theirs didn't, Obama and the Dems swept the election of 2008, the bomb DIDN'T go off on the plane such as to destroy it, and a host of other events, CLEARLY should show these morans that, quite simply, God is on our side.
And (S)He has a penchant for irony: all these "Christian" folk praying that Obama gets his, and lo and behold! their boy Rush is sick...in HAWAII for crying out loud! You can't script this stuff....it would be rejected as contrived and ridiculous.

2. Rush's followers will scream "Death Panel" if he dies... |
|
You know it would have to be Obama's fault.

13. Of course it would be Obama's fault. |

He's right around the corner. Probably sent some agents over to make Rush sick.
:sarcasm:
(You KNOW that will be one of their memes over the next few days.)

3. Perhaps they don't understand G-d's will. Or, perhaps, there is no G-d. |
|
Praying, hoping, and wishing are all passive acts, which are reliant on the actions of "another." We all do it. Those who feel they have a "hotline" to G-d, or whomever (be it a deity or cosmic force) will experience 'highs' and 'lows', but will always be able to "explain way" an outcome which doesn't match their wish, hope/desire, prayer, just as they will "praise" an outcome which meets their demands. It's not weird, it is human nature.

It would be human nature if the politicians and TV evangelists and Rushbo-types were true believers, but almost all of them are lying abut their belief systems. Hypocrites almost entirely, they manipulate others into believing that they're sincere so that they'll be part of the 'flock' which means either sending money, supporting the advertisers, or having sex with them.

"Hashem", meaning "the Name" is often used...the words spelled for "Adonai" in Hebrew are pronounced "Adonai" but not spelled as such...
Innaresting (sic)...Many Conservative and Orthodox Jews do not spell the name completely...I was raised Reform but belong to Conservative...I tell people we have a 'mixed marriage' b/c my wife is Conservative (in Religion only, not politics!)

My father was often the "rabbi" as we were often on posts with no rabbi. It is one of the few hold-overs from my upbringing and do it mostly out of respect for my parents.

6. They think their god is a little hard of hearing and starting to forget some things. |
|
That's why they have to pray so loud and tell him exactly what to do.

The nature and timing of her question, the manner of her delivery, her smarmy sneer whilst asking it qualifies her as an 'asshole'.
