Politics isn't about having the purest thoughts or the cleanest soul. It's about winning the argument. Granted, I think prayer is a pretty pointless exercise. Still I cannot blame those of use who wish harm on the likes of Limbaugh. Wishing, like prayer, has no practical consequence. And those who were glad to hear that Rush might be on his way out would be dishonest if they pretended that that did not. Religious thinking encourages the idea that we can control what we want or believe by pretending we want or believe something else. I decline to participate in this level of dishonesty. As a tangential matter, we liberals and progressives need to get past this idea playing nice no matter how abominable they treat us.
