I've taken a break from du for about a month,

by necessity, and by choice. In the interim, I've been trying to help my mom and her husband get their financial affairs in order (they're 86 and 85 yrs old), and put my younger sister back in prison. Not a pleasant story, all the way around.

When I checked out after Thanksgiving, I needed a break from all the tumult on du, though I love you cranky people in spite of chronic crankiness; and I love to discuss ideas and ideals.

When I got back on today, my heart sank a little. I don't mind the arguing, but I don't understand the ill-will. Let's say a certain talk-show host dies. Will that make anyone's life here personally better? After all, no one's forced to listen to him, or even read about him.

Karma never stops--just goes round and round, so be careful what you wish for.

I just wish he'd get some illness that made it so he could never speak again and was forced to waste his considerable income on health care because he does not have insurance and pays out of pocket.

Limbaugh has a huge responsiblity in continuing the legacy of Reagan "I've got mine-screw you". He continues to empower idiocy and lack of compassion every day...he even started airing his show on Saturdays. He is so awful and arrogant, but many times this ego driven behavior tends to attract followers who emulate the same type of behavior. I think he and Cheney are the devil's greatest profits(and prophets)

As for delighting in a certain Nazi gasbag's misfortune, I keep trying to point out that there are dozens of eager beaver small time shock jocks lining up for the privilege of taking over his flock of sheep. The respite would be short lived and the next Nazi gasbag would likely be worse.

I will say that you are wrong about him. Everyones lives will improve slightly when he goes away. While we don't have to listen to him or read about him, we feel the effects of what he does every time some asshole carries a gun to a public meeting, or when a man walks into a church and shoots a doctor in the head, or when there is a threat made against the President.

I can only imagine how much it costs us in Secret Service people to track down every threat made by someone who just finished listening to Rush talk about how the Crazy Nazi Muslim in the white house is going to get us all.
