We got all the way through the 2000-2009 decade...
...and, despite occasionally hearing people trying to use terms like "the aughties", no common shorthand for the decade ever caught on.

I suppose now the same thing will be true for 2010-2019, before we can finally talk about living in the "twenties" and the "thirties", etc.

2. How about the decade of despair.
It's been an awful decade, starting with the selection of Bush/Cheney, two of the most evil leaders this country has ever had. I hope the next ten years can make us forget.

As in teeny improvements in the job market, teeny wage increases (if any), teeny consequences for the corporate robber barons. Teeny progress toward peace.
