The latest updates on Rush Limbaugh are confusing and vague
There hasn't been much news on Rush since he was admitted to a Honolulu hospital Wednesday night after experiencing sudden chest pains. There haven't been any definitive updates but all sorts of "other" information has drifted into the public square, some of it conflicting, some of it odd, some of it conspiratorial and some of it amusing. <snip>

We know the basics: sudden chest pains; hospitalized and listed in serious condition but, according to his website, is "resting comfortably."
The chest pains were "similar to a heart attack," but the hospital hasn't said he had a heart attack. In fact, ABC News reported that doctors were "stumped" as to exactly what was wrong.<snip>

Limbaugh's actual condition could be anywhere in a huge range. This could be chest pains just barely suggestive enough of angina, with admission enzymes or an EKG maybe a little bit questionable. But if you admit anyone on even the most marginal of rule-out-angina grounds, they have to go to a unit with cardiac monitoring (an EKG machine attached and running continuously), and that means they automatically get labeled as "Serious" condition.
Or he could be in genuinely serious trouble. Even if he has had an MI, though, while that could be a serious long-term problem for him, most people don't die outright or in the short-term from an MI, certainly not their first one, certainly not if they seek and receive medical attention early. If you make it to the hospital alive with your first MI, you'll probably leave alive as well.<snip>

1. Might have been a Viagra erection that lasted a few too many hours.
Some people say he's a sexual tourist.

10. I think those sexual tourist forays are into more exotic -- and faraway -- locales.
Don't think he'd go to Hawaii, esp when the President/Press is there.

I also saw recently that he's engaged, so I'm assuming he was there with his poor, deluded fiance.

3. If this is drug related, as seems pretty obvious to me...
then we're not going to hear anything substantive for a long time.

13. REMEMBER he told the EMT's he WAS taking pain medication
for his BACK....And one of the systems of taking some of those drugs is something similar to a heart attack...I can't see a guy out playing golf, when he said he had back pain. Wouldn't that make it 100 times worst.

18. It seems that back trouble bad enough to be on pain meds would be
too painful for golf.

If you had OD'ed on oxycodone.

Or needed to have a small rodent removed from your lower digestive tract.

Just sayin'.

9. I wonder if he made it there in the "golden hour"?

He could have been in a drug induced stupor for some time and not been aware that his heart muscle was being damaged.

There's always hope.

12. He's been in hospital for two nights
He's either in worse condition than his lackeys are letting on, or that's some Cadillac health insurance his devoted listeners are paying for him to have.

16. Just guessing
But it could be an aortic aneurysm.

An aortic aneurysm is a general term for any swelling (dilatation or aneurysm) of the aorta, usually representing an underlying weakness in the wall of the aorta at that location. While the stretched vessel may occasionally cause discomfort, a greater concern is the risk of rupture, which causes severe pain; massive internal hemorrhage; and, without prompt treatment, results in a quick death.

A good friend's sister had this happen to her this year. She's still recovering. Totally changed her life.

19. Maybe he's in detox.
It is a little odd. I just read how the hotel security took great efforts to discreetly get him out, and I think that might be the explanation. He doesn't want any of this leaking.
