If you support Obama you're a naive chump and if you oppose him you're an unrealistic lefty whiner |
|
and if you take some carefully thought-through, subtly nuanced position somewhere in between support and dissent for the president then you're just a wishy washy fence straddler. And if none of these generalizations describe you, then you're probably a lurking freeper. Or a Canadian. Or a box turtle.
I expected as much from the Canadians. But as for all those box turtles out there, I'm deeply deeply disappointed in you.
Happy New Year's, my friends!

I just don't know what to think about Obama anymore. The only things I am sure about are that he has a beautiful family and a really cute dog. The rest? I just don't know.

10. I never pin all my hopes and expectations on one man. |

I'm still glad we elected him and don't expect him to single-handedly right all wrongs and represent my point of view 100% of the time.
Happy New Year from a firm fence straddler!

You left out realist!!
Realism and realists is the new criminal on DU. They are the old and tired activists who do more than vote. Composed of those who have studied politics and actively engaged on a local level and who now take a stand that as long as they keep plugging and keep informing and educating and protecting the box turtles, things will eventually get better.
They are criminal because they are not willing to let this system collapse upon itself causing undue harm to the turtles. If the system collapsed the turtles credit cards would no longer function; the turtles would lose their shells!
Better to reform everything in an even and studied pace rather than the radical, in your face, f you style, that was the last 8 years opposite a realist style like Al Gore would have provided, is the realists idea.
Seems the box turtles have stuck their heads out long enough to be caught up in the Bushco style of governing that is the my way or the highway style, which is in direct contrast to the realist style that understands consensus building makes for a better democracy in the long haul.
Besides, the left, while nearly always proven correct in the long haul, is pretty much powerless because of all the box turtles not opening up and becoming real activist.
Idunno, maybe they do need to come out of their shells? Great pain there, but maybe it is the solution?
