10. I don't think Huckabee's primary opponents
are going to let the "Huckabee handed out pardons like candy" issue slip by.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Huckabee#Clemency_and_Pardon_controversies

Or maybe that only matters to Republicans if a Democrat is involved.

21. The Huckers won't be elected. No one will elect a preacher in the General Election.
He might win the primary. But I don't think he will because he isn't a favorite of the conservates.

23. I think the most pressing motivator for the GOP to vote
Will be to defeat Obama.

Before you say, "Der-hay," let me explain.

That's their motivation, but will it be enough to get them out to vote?

Following are the big names for the GOP nominee at this point. To me, they all seem to bring out reactions ranging from apathy to negtivity both for their base as well as all voters.

Huckabee - Beyond being anti-gay and anti-abortion, the GOP establishment doesn't like him too much, and he comes across as too much of a nice guy (in other words, he displays basic civility), even when dealing with liberals, with his base.

Romney - Has the looks but is lacking in intelligence. This isn't a hindrance for the GOP though. He's kind of lacking charisma as well though. Plus, he's a Mormon. After years and years of the religious nutjobs being told by their leaders that Mormons aren't Christians, it's going to take a lot to reverse that position in their minds if he gets the nomination.

Palin - Is loved by the insane 27% of the nation's population, which makes up a sizable portion of the GOP. Will the more sane members of the GOP be willing to nominate her just to beat Obama, and if so, will the saner members of the GOP be willing to vote for her in the general election after she screws up her campaign?

Jindal - There is no way in hell that the GOP party machine or their voters are going to elect a non-white to take the country back from another non-white. In 2012, the race against Obama is going to be fueled by racism - both convert and overt. They can't do that and have a minority as their nominee.

The GOP is constantly looking for another Reagan, and each time, their nominee falls short. The one, "Superstar," in the GOP right now is toxic to the majority of the country and will have a hard time overcoming that. Obama has had a rough first year. So did Clinton. But I had faith in him, and I have faith in Obama. If he can stay in good with the majority of the country, which I think for the most part he's doing, I don't think the motivation alone to unseat him is going to be enough for the GOP voters, and if their nominee can't inject anything else, I don't see Obama losing.

25. I expect that the next Republican nominee will be a
candidate more associated with economics. I don't know who that person will be. The next generation to Steve Forbes whoever he/she is.

I'm expecting the budget and debt to be the major problems the government will be struggling with by the time of the next election.
