The Horrors of Socialized Medicine
This is from Suburban Guerilla by way of correntewire.com. As the new year begins, let's all be thankful our elected leaders made sure we would be spared this sort of treatment.

My friend M. sent this email this morning:

“Here’s how my 2010 is going so far…It sucks.

I was walking though Hyde Park yesterday afternoon when I slipped on some ice and cracked a rib. I headed to St.Thomas Hospital where after a 15 minute wait I was taken in to see a nurse, who then X-Rayed my chest. After another 15 minutes a doctor came in, said the Xrays were negative and it was probably just a tiny hairline crack that will hurt for a couple of weeks but will be alright. He then gave me a couple boxes of assorted pain killers (Codeine and Ibuprofen). When I asked about if they take Aetna he smiled and said there’s NO CHARGE. Michael Moore was not bullshitting us!

I bet when I get home my doctor will charge me double just for spite!

Still in a lot of pain so I’m skipping the train trip to Paris but it’s a new adventure in socialized medicine…God Bless NHS!!!

3. I know it sounds silly, but pop over to the chemist (pharmacy)

and find something equivalent to Bengay. The counter-irritant effect will help ease the pain a little. A little dab'll do ya. Ibuprofen will also help, but take it on a regular schedule to build up a nice blood level.
