1. It's a hollow argument at any rate. The response is what matters. |
|
How has Obama responded is far more important than the fact that security was breached. Security will be breached. That's the nature of security. Nothing is fullproof.
Bush didn't do anything but take away the rights of Americans and invade a country that had nothing to do with it.

4. I've been safe the whole time.... |

I presume you have too. So have the other respondents to this thread. So, in fact, have millions of others been safe. Terrorism has NEVER been a credible threat to any of "us." Our chances of being killed by grizzly bears wearing tutus are about the same as our chances of being harmed by "terrorists."
Stop the terrorism meme. It only helps the authoritarians who want to restrict our liberties.

6. Unrec, for the following reason: we are not addressing the root causes of terrorism |
|
As long as the United States, and both major parties, continue to finance and enable Israel's occupation of Palestinian lands, and expansion into East Jerusalem, we will never be able to get a handle on terrorism.
Do you even realize that there is an impasse in Obama's Middle East peace efforts, and that the fault lies squarely on Israel's refusal to freeze settlements?

8. The point that you missed is that until we address the root cause of terrorism, none of us are safe |
|
no matter who the President happens to be.

10. Bush didn't keep us safe at all. His neocon wars made us less safe. |
|
US foreign policy going back to the 1953 coup that overthrown the democratically elected Mohammed Mossadegh's government and replaced it with the Shah, was always intended to safeguard the interests of our oligarchs, not to protect and defend the American people.
