67. He will be a 1st rounder
Later in the round, but Heisman winners go somewhere in round one. No later than St. Louis at the 1st pick in Rd. 2.

St Louis, Cleveland, Oakland, Carolina or Seattle could take a QB in the 1st round. They need one.

108. I don't think he'll go in the first round
Heisman winners don't always go in the first round, particularly when they're college QBs who don't project well as pro-style QBs. Stranger things have happened, though, so maybe he will.

25. Analysts after the game pretty much said that.
His style does not fit in the NFL. He winds up too much when throwing the ball which is a dead giveaway to the defense.

The only reason he was successful in college was because he ran the football more than even other QBs that ran a lot.

45. I personally like QBs who can run with the ball, but...
apparently it scares the bejeezus out of coaches, etc.

Which makes sense. Why make oneself a double target...

so yeah, his NFL career (if he's chosen) may be either very short, or even non-existent.

48. The problem is the level of play
In college you will be playing against maybe 3 NFL caliber players a game on defense at a point they don't have the NFL experience. Once you are in the league, everyone on the field is a monster. You can't have your quarterback running consistently, the defenses are too good for that and the hits he will take will shorten the career two quickly. Look at the average career span of an NFL running back.

55. Yeah, I'm sure a lot of them get a real eye opening
when they get into the NFL!! Probably wish they had gone on to careers in Accounting or Forestry or something after graduation...

And even then, some of the top picks end up going absolutely nowhere. They do OK for a while then disappear from the radar screen, or become mediocre at best.

56. It would be a little different if they structured college game schedules better
College teams play 6 competitive games and 6 easy games all season. If they ever do away with the BCS and move to a play-off system, things will get tougher in college real quick.

the freedom to worship as one chooses...without fear of persecution...not the freedom to proselytize and be an annoying little dickhead.

PS...and what's ironic is that some of these religious whackos who are so in-yer-face with their religion have the same complaint about gays. They don't want "gayness" advertised...they don't want it "shoved in their faces". But they do the same with their stinking religion. Even to the point where they want the rest of us to stop and pray with them at sporting or other events.

Hypocritical asses.

68. No, he has the right to express himself
And I have the right to call him an idiot and self aggrandizer for the way he proselytizes at any opportunity even though it should be obvious to the slowest among his fans that painting his face with a bible verse does nothing for anyone but himself. Remember the thing that Jesus fella said about those who pray loudly on street corners, and how they already have their rewards. Yeah, he could have been talking about laughing boy up there with the numbers on his face.

That's how that whole free speech thing works. The only difference is he has a bigger audience because for some reason people are interested in a guy who can throw a ball.

Also, I have yet to see someone get upset at being told to have a "Merry Christmas" in my life, not once, ever. However I have seen people (right wing nut-balls and Bill O suckers mostly) flip out when told "Happy holidays" because the biggest holiday of the year is somehow under attack even though you cant walk 10 feet without seeing Christmas decorations and the whole country shuts down so they can celebrate however they want. The "War on Christmas" seems to have the vast majority of it's shots being fired from the direction of the so called victims.

Funny that. Almost like the whole thing is made up.

are usually money makers for the university and subsidize other sports. However, all the coaches, staff, trainers etc. as far as I know are university employees. Ironically, if the students were paid university employees then Tebow would not be allowed to have the face verses as it could be construed as endorsement of religion by a state employee 'on the clock'.

22. Haven't been here long, have you?
BTW, welcome.

Actually, many , if not most, of us are annoyed - even outraged. Annoyed by him, outraged that as a football playing representative of Fla State Universty he is allowed to prosletize like this.

He might as well wear a signboard that says "repent, the end is near..." That would be unconstitutional. If he wants to "give the glory to god" after the game and the team has left the field like all these other doofuses, there is not really any stoping him, but to allow him to put that on knowing full well that millions of people are going to see close ups and hear stories about him cricumscizing babies and raising the dead, the State of Florida is spending public money to establish religion.

It is quite likely that some of the funds generated by the football program go toward financing the Title IX programs as well.

I believe his parent have been missionaries and I'm sure he was indoctrinated with religious zealousness. But the whole eye-black message of the week thing goes too far. All for someone embracing their faith, but this seems to be more of an attention getter than anything else. I mean does he go around on non-game days with a message across his forehead? No, of course he doesn't.

47. It's annoying but there's one little bright spot. He cited Eph 2:8-10
and not just Eph 2:8-9. Why is that a bright spot? Because 8-9 refer only to the fact that salvation is a gift and not of works.

Those are the verses most often cited by fundies. They conveniently leave out verse 10 which goes on to say that good works are EXPECTED to be done by Christians.

We've all seen so-called Christians who wouldn't do anything good for anybody if their lives depended on it. Certainly we've all seen some who don't want to pay any taxes for programs that benefit the poor or the sick, right?

So, even though I find it annoying on one level, I did find a glimmer of hope on another.

58. It Does not matter
Who cares? It is private expression of faith. He has the right to do it.

Same thing for the atheists. But our society is scare of the atheist.

In reality, there is nothing to fear about atheism. Atheism is just another belief system that just says that a supernatural being is a figment of our imagination. And I have no issues with Christianity or atheism.

Only it gets too warped with state power does it create havoc. Atheism had Stalin and Mao. Christianity had the Inquistion. Nobody is innocent

Secular government protects everybody's freedom of religion. When one side either atheists or Christian wants to restrict the freedom of expression, that is religious tyranny.

When the expansion Jags earned a wild card slot in the NFL playoffs, Brunell was telling every reporter that was listening, that God had told him they were going to win the Super Bowl that year.

Unfortunately, he was just listening to voices in his head, or God had a bet on the other team. They lost in the first round.

78. Doesn't Particularly Bother Me But He Would Do Well to Read Matthew Chapter 6, Verses 1-6
"Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing

so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
