28. Have you read much of DU? It sure doesn't seem like it.
Edited on Sat Jan-02-10 08:20 PM by MineralMan
DU is not about college football, you see. It is about larger political issues. Your concern about the NFL's farm system is pretty boring, basically.

In any case, there is a Sports forum here on DU. I'm sure the DUers there have some interest in this topic. Here on GD, we usually discuss political issues, not boys playing ball games, hoping that they'll make millions as professional jocks.

How do you feel about universal health care? What about equality in marriage? What's your opinion on how we can avoid the Congressional majorities being lost in the 2010 elections? That's the sort of thing we discuss on GD.

Edited on Sun Jan-03-10 02:46 AM by Truth2Tell
This is how we can keep Dem seats in 2010!

Those rural district voters will be so happy about the changes to college football they won't even notice those pesky new checks they'll be writing to AETNA! Why didn't we think of this sooner? Maybe we need to push our Congress members to get to work on some legislation concerning American Idol! We might even get those rural voters to forget about the wars!

This is genius!

Writing more coherent and complete questions, and not just throwing out acronyms, would be a better way to ask 166,000 strangers a question.

29. No. You are asking a sports question. The BCS is about nothing but
boys playing ball games and dreaming about making millions as professional athletes. The subject belongs in the Sports forum, where some people give a crap about such meaningless things.

11. No.
I like the poll system. It makes college football special. I agree it has faults, but I think a way to make it less biased should be found, though, rather than replacing it.

That's my sports-oriented opinion.

My politics-oriented opinion is what does this have to do with Congress.

I nominate this as the silliest Poll of 2010.

I know, it's early.....

Congress should concentrate more on real, significant issues.

16. Yes, right after they pass legislation to strip the Yankees of their money
and after they deny the Steelers the right to play in any more Superbowls. Not sure about the NHL, but they also need to shorten the games in the NBA. I think after that they can get to fixing college sports.

Probably shorten the NBA games too. Thinking about it they should shorten NBA games two ways. Number of games and number of minutes.

If they do then they can have a say. Since they don't... stay the hell out of it. Better yet. If any member of Congress attempts to interfere in this matter they should shoot themselves.

Besides... it doesn't rise to the level of their jurisdiction when it pertains to public welfare of the nation.

45. No.
And rather than viewing it as a matter of priorities--Congress has more important things to do, Congress should first worry about X, Y, or Z--I figure that it's not a government function to set up college football national championships. Not everything is to be decided by elected government officials.

If Congress currently had nothing more pressing to do than set up a dozen committees to evaluate changing the name of the dining establishment serving Congress and what items should be on its menu, I would still say Congress shouldn't deal with BCS.

If we weren't in two wars, had a booming economy, with full employment, and had cured all the other major problems we have, then maybe, just maybe Congress could think about it. Not to mention I forget where in the Constitution it says that Congress can/should be involved in college football ratings.
