That was the best dunking Alamo Bowl Spoiler
Edited on Sun Jan-03-10 01:21 AM by MichaelHarris
of Gatoraid I've ever seen! You have to feel for the Texas Tech interim coach. The head coach is fired before the game and it's Ruffin McNeill's first day on the job and he wins the Alamo Bowl. When he turned to his players and said, "I love you guys..." will turn out to be a memorable scene.

His after game quote about, "If you let me have your son, I'll take care of your son" in light of what coach Leach was accused of was perfect.

Go Red Raiders!

1. I'm not always a football fan
but that fourth quarter was pretty great.

2. I love football

probably too much. College football though, I stopped watching professional football when the Oilers left Houston. Living in a college town doesn't help and doing sports photography doesn't help :)

7. That's a very nice shot.
We only watch college football in this house also. My husband thinks all pro athletes are overpayed so he doesn't want to "buy in."

3. Oh man... I'm so sorry I clicked on this link.
We were out this evening so we taped the Alamo bowl and right now we're watching the 2nd quarter, still 6 minutes left....17 to 14. Kinda ruins the rest of the game....sigh.

I'll see if I can add a spoiler thing. If it helps your going to love the fourth quarter.

5. I know you didn't mean to spoil anything.
Heavens knows I've been lost in the moment of watching great sports and want to comment on it.

And about the 4th quarter....what makes you think I was rooting for Tech to win? LOL

I actually have no preference for who wins, so I'm sure we'll enjoy the 4th quarter even knowing the outcome.
There have been some outstanding bowl games this year....I think we've watched every damn one. The best games have been the least hyped with mostly unranked teams IMHO.

6. LOL
you're right, I assumed everyone was rooting for Tech. My local team sucked this year but the team nine miles away made a Bowl game for the first time in like 500 years. The Idaho Vandels. They have the smallest stadium in college football in their league. It's called the Kibbie Dome.

10. Hubby and I noticed the small stadiums.
I've been to the Rose Bowl several times (USC grad) and that's a huge stadium. I decided that it looked like much more fun to watch one of these games in a small stadium...it's more "intimate"...LOL

Oh, and I read that first as the "Kibble" Dome....which would be indicative of a small stadium.

11. LOL
Martin Stadium at WSU is pretty small also, wonder if it's the smallest in the PAC 10?

14. Yup...it is.

I've been to all the California and Arizona stadiums but never made it to the WA or Oregon ones. Having your home games at the Coliseum was pretty cool. It was right across the street from campus so you didn't have to worry about getting tanked and then having to drive or try to find someone sober. The only hazard was avoiding the freshmen projectile vomiting inside and outside of the stadium.

8. Didn't have a dog in this fight
Until I heard all the shit about your coach and then all the Tech fans who still supported him. Was rooting hard for MSU after that.

9. Firing Leach was stupid on TT's part. They will be back in the cellar of the Big 12 with Baylor
for many years on out - which is perhaps where they belong.

12. Dunno
Some of the stories are being corroborated. I saw the coach say the dad of the player was an ass and I've seen that first hand. Maybe the coach wanted to punish the father though his son.

13. I read a couple of statement by players saying they were glad he was
fired, the fact that they won says a lot.

15. What a pile of bunk.
I realize many people who self-identify with abusive assholes may mourn Leach's loss, but his loss is no loss to the Red Raider program.

They'll be just fine.

17. Uh-huh. They'll be "just fine" as they sink back into suckitude. But hey, that's where they belong
IMO, so you've got no argument with me there.

19. About what? That Texas Tech is headed back into major "WE SUCK" territory?

I think not.

16. That was a great game.
I had no dog in the hunt but I enjoy a good game.

Once I heard the background story I decided to back Texas Tech. Ruffin McNeill impressed the hell out of me. He made some great decisions that many other coaches would have feared and his trust in the team was warranted.
